Svar was born into a small family of wandering dwarves who from the Grey Mountains who lost their homes to the incursions of creatures of the Shadow. As he has grown older, in the course of their travels and occasional journeys back to their ancestral homeland, time and encounters with danger have resulted in Svar being the only one left in his family. This has pushed him to move more from trading to seeking out and trying to end the menace of the Shadow when he can. He still takes part in trading and using his craft skills to support himself, as he still needs to eat. With this change in his life, he has traveled to answer Saruman's call. He has wandered far, but still carries the viol he inherited from his father that he plays when he can. The weight of his experiences shows in his lean frame for a dwarf, and the grey that already shoots through his dark brown hair and beard.
