Backstory

My mother is an elf, old by human standards, but still in her prime as her people count such things. She lies and tells me my father was a human soldier - a captain - who perished in a war on the border, and I let her believe I believe her, because I am a good son.
But my hair grows wild and paints the sky like fire in a way that no human's would, and my beard writhes earthward as if it longs to find and feel bedrock no mater how I trim it.
My eyes are black as a vein of iron before it's been mined.
