The Intelligence bonus is added to all roles that pertain to academic or esoteric knowledge, such as lores, reading ancient languages, and so forth.
The Intelligence bonus is added to all roles that pertain to academic or esoteric knowledge, such as lores, reading ancient languages, and so forth.  Characters add their bonus for Intelligence to starting skill points.


Intelligence limits/grants a number of starting languages, the ability to read/write, and hopefully a specialized skill or two - the ability to cast magic will require these to be spent that way.
Intelligence caps the maximum Spell Complexity that a character can master.
 
A Mage can never know more spells than their Intelligence attribute.
