Yu Jen's unique martial arts is based on Storm Dragon, but her deficiencies as a pure martial artist are shored up by gaming her opponents through the distributed processing of her cybernetic implants and her swarm of drones. When her system is working well, she runs through complicated techniques and optimal counters with eerie perfection. Description[edit]

Some women are called "radiant" due to their luminous beauty.

Radiant Yu Jen is not beautiful.

She was never going to be beautiful, not even before a life filled with violence, desperation, and obsession took its toll. Her jaw and chin were too prominent, her cheekbones too defined, her lips too thin. Still, she might have been striking, vivacious, even cute.

Radiant Yu Jen is called "radiant" due to her eyes: spheres of featureless, luminescent gold. The glow is soft, but reddens her eyelids and orbital sockets where the cybernetics disappear beneath her skin. The eyes have no external features, no way to tell which direction Yu Jen points her gaze. It makes her look blind and insectile both. As an aesthetic choice -- and it is an aesthetic choice, because cybereyes can easily be made nearly indistinguishable from biological ones -- it speaks of anger and alienation.

Surrounding those eerie eyes, the right side of her face is marred with three thin, deep scars. She wears no cosmetics (what would be the point?), and her hair is cut short and utilitarian, shaved entirely on the left side to give easy access to four separate data-ports set in her temple above her (notched) ear.

The scars, the eyes, are not the only signs of a body that has suffered violence. On her left hand, her smallest and ring finger and part of the palm have been replaced with cybernetic alternatives, ivory-colored combat ceramics in graceful stylized swoops that do not attempt to precisely mimic the flesh they replace. Her right leg below the knee is prosthetic in a similar style.

She is slightly above average height, with the slim body and defined muscles of a martial artist. She wears a red synthsilk half-robe, its wide sleeves weighed down with pockets for gear, tied loosely around the waist. Underneath she wears tight black-and-gray tactical clothing, a vest and leggings. A kung-fu slipper on her remaining biological foot. Three black quadcopters hover protectively around her, their baffled rotors humming lightly.
