No one seems to recal hoe he became part of the crew, but his willingness to share his skills with not only the leadership class of the vessel but spent a great deal of time amongst the ratings.

The Torpedus pattern raider vessel was designed to resemble a wretched transport hulk. Most void captains are still unaware of this deception, as few survive when a Torpedus' true form is revealed.
