The physics of Thearn is different from that of our world. Specifically, there had been cases where otherwise completely ordinary human display super human capabilities.
Mitsuwa-sensei
According to Mitsuwa-sensei: "Those angels (Serafin) are at least as good as me, if not better... but I can, now. That's amazing. I wonder why?"
White light followed her hands and soothed the wounded Schalar. The healing aspect of Blue Stra magic? But the color wasn't right, and Mitsuwa-sensei isn't related to the Serafin in any way.
