Elise Schandalere, AKA Matriarch
She's pushing 70, but still looks like a woman in her late 30s. While the authorities have never really been able to classify her power, she tells the family that hers is the power of Will. It seems to be a semi-psionic ability to control her body, allowing her to be superstrong, nearly invulnerable, fast, etc.
Elise is no nonsense, but she's not a harridan.
She has little patience for those whose actions attack the family directly, but as with Erik and Meg from the beginning, will tend to stand by family (publicly, at least) even against social pressure.
