Shinrin Hiroto
Hiro has had a string of poorly timed ill-luck.
First he had come down on the wrong side of whether some temporary campers should be moved along, later who had given them permission to use some deadfall for their own cooking fires. Both were ‘regrettable and poorly thought out.’
His family was so annoyed that they sent him on a pilgrimage to reflect.
In addition, while on his travels from Nagano Prefecture south to Lake Biwa he would be required to note the marking and techniques for managing access employed by other forest managers along the way.
He was to take particular note of the methods employed to keep undesireables out of the private forests.

Shinrin Hiroto. Game Keeper and Forester
In his mind he had done little wrong other than having slavish social climbers for relatives and was very curious about what lay beyond his own valleys where he had grown up. He secretly was very happy to go on a pilgrimage and meet new people. He was also aware of his very rural appearance and tried to make up for it by staying clean and tidy, more so than would normally be possible.
