Tropes

Toss a Coin to Your... You’ve got a bard that chronicles your daring adventures. They are useless in a fight, but their help grants a +1 Enhancement on Presence rolls and, once per session, your bard regales the rowdy tavern with your glory, moving the crowd to provide you the financial means or items necessary for the next leg of your journey.

Weapon of Old (Xiphas, "Vigor of Astarte") No one remembers when the weapon appeared in the stone, but rumors claim that whoever pulled it free would lead the oppressed to victory. Centuries passed, and no other has managed to budge it from its place of rest — except for you. The weapon grants you a +1 Enhancement to Close Combat rolls. When you hold your weapon aloft, you feel the power of the gods coursing through you when you call its name. Once per story, raise your weapon and call its name to gain +2 Enhancement to Might or Dexterity rolls until the scene ends.

Well-Oiled Abs Your body is your pride; you’ve devoted years of training to put yourself in peak condition. An appropriately ripped wet tunic accentuates your physique. When you want to show off, your well-oiled form grants you a +1 Enhancement on seduction, evasion, and rolls to escape from grapples. Additionally, once per story, entice any opponent once they admire your well-sculpted body, making them unable to take any action until you regain Focus in the following round or until they take damage from any source.

Backstory

Aziva is a young but seasoned adventurer, about 25 years old, from the Azores, a Phoenician colony that developed into a female-dominated matriarchal republic. Tall, beautiful, and possessing a stunning physique and amazing hair that even the goddesses may envy. Aziva has a variety of masks in different shapes but all in the same green, white, and red colors, and is never seen without one.

When young Azorean ladies set off on their very first sea voyage, they visit the Temple of Astarte to seek the goddess's blessing. By tradition, they also are invited to attempt to draw "The Vigor of Astarte," a shining masterwork xiphos, from its receptacle, a recessed sculpture that resembles a flower. (The presence of the goddess's "vigor" penetrating such a stone has almost universally been interpreted among Azoreans as Astarte's endorsement of Sapphic love.) By the time of Aziva's blessing, many hundreds of Azorean women had tried and failed to extract it, but the Vigor of Astarte slid out easily for her, at the first tug. An auspicious omen, indeed!

Aziva has been a trusted member of several crews, but now, accompanied by her trusted Azorean friend Elissa the Bard, is looking forward to leading her first expedition.
