Owing to the themes, influences and design of Scalgard, a game set in the Phantom World has fewer races available as player characters than other 4E game worlds. A player may select from the following races when creating a character:
- Dwarf
- Half-Elf (called "Aelfin" in Scalgard)
- Halfling
- Human
- Orc (use stats for orc PCs from the Monster Manual)
The following races are not available as player characters:
- Dragonborn
- Eladrin
- Elf
- Tiefling
No additional races from other sources will be considered for play.
