Session One

The Rogue, arriving this morning, has been relaxing a little at the inn before heading to the castle. He's been talking with the Cleric, who easily seems to be the most interesting person in the establishment. After the beer has arrived and the small talk is over:

Rogue: "My good man, have you seen Zendrala Farnswithe?"

Cleric: "Why that's a name I haven't heard in years! Nay, I've not seen her. Has she come to Castle Belame recently?"

Rogue: "She may have. The merchant's guild of Shar Thall asked that I find her. They are having problems with their books again, and she's the best at fixing them. The King's tax collector isn't too happy with the delay."

Cleric: "So you work for the merchant's guild?"

Rogue: "Actually I'm just a scout that lives in the same village as she. Well I guess I'll be heading to the castle here. Maybe someone there will have seen her."

Cleric: "I'd be happy to show the way. I live in the inner ward."

They finish their drinks and leave the inn. Just as they approach the inner ward gate they see a young man that's the spitting image of Parnor Farnswithe! Other people around you have noticed as well and seem fascinated but remain quiet.

Cleric (yelling): "Farnswithe the younger! Welcome back from the city!"

The Wizard recognizes his old friend the Cleric.

Cleric: "I'm very sorry about your father."

Wizard: "Thanks, but don't bury his sword yet. If he's still alive... I intend to find him."

Cleric: "Of course... and you should know I've been looking for him too. But enough! Let us talk of these things over a stout brew, not here in the street."

While walking across the inner ward grounds, the Cleric begins to make polite introductions but the Ranger runs up, talking fast:

Ranger: "Good cleric and you men, the old gray goat... I mean, the Captain of the Guard wants me to round some people up for a job!"

Cleric (dramatically): "So your dad wants us to run a message to the patrol seargant outside the castle again?"

Ranger: "He didn't say exactly, but he said we will earn a bonus if they put up a fight."

Rogue: "How far do we have to go and what size is the bonus?"

Ranger: "I believe they are inside the walls and I've seen these bonuses range from 100 gp to a magical item from the armory. If you are all in, let's go find Xalgor."

They enter the castle and find Lord Dillard Corgel is visiting from nearby Oaksong Manor. He is speaking with Castellan Bergon Treefall, his wife Sheala Treefall, and Xalgor. Their voices echo from the high ceilings of the foyer.

Xalgor: "Surely you can appreciate how important it is for your men bolster the patrols."

Dillard: "Well I certainly wish that Lord Oswyn was here."

Bergon: "As we said he was called away on urgent business by the Duke."

Dillard: "Yes, of course. (slyly) Do you find the Duke's agenda a bit showy?"

Sheala: "Neria Eckart would say his vision is glorious."

Xalgor: "I believe the lord and his wife agree on this."

Dillard (frowning): "Well, thank you for your time, my good people. We shall be off."

The visting lord leaves, his guards and scribes in tow.

Xalgor walks over to your group.

Xalgor: "Hey! Are you ready?"
