'''Joshua:''' Kiera. Prep the surgery room in case I need to be a small Chinese man within the next day. <br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' Kneecap a Chinese man? What?<br>
 +
'''Joshua:''' Kneecap a small Chinese man before I become him.<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' Don’t forget the limp.<br><br>

'''Joshua:''' ''Hello! '''Hello?!'''''<br>
+
'''Arden:''' I got the impression they were Marshalls.<br>
'''Beglan:''' (from the bridge) I hear ye. What’s goin’ on down there?<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Why?<br>
'''Joshua:''' Our smoker didn’t quite extinguish. He wasn’t quite Smoky the Bear down here.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' I don’t remember why. I just know there’s a reason.<br>
'''Beglan:''' There’s a fire?!<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' (rolls with it) Okay.<br><br>
'''Joshua:''' No. There’s not a fire, there’s a cigarette!<br><br>

'''Nika:''' (crisp) Beggar, what just happened?<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' So I think the next step is for me to try—I don’t know what our time frame is.  They didn’t get us a timeframe, did they? They didn’t mention something specific.<br>
'''Beglan:''' I … stopped the airlocks from opening.<br>
+
'''Beglan:''' Ahh….He did not. He said soon.<br>
'''Nika:''' Did you just shut down the pulse engine?<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Yeah, soon. But he didn’t say exactly when.<br>
'''Beglan:''' A bit.<br><br>
+
'''Kiera:''' Did he say where?<br><br>

'''Beglan:''' I’ll leave you here where you can see and I’ll walk down and find Rina to power—.<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Now the question is, is Rina going to do something that destroys any possibility of rescue.<br>
'''Nika:''' I’ll get Rina. It’s okay. She’s in engineering.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' It’s not a question.<br>
'''Beglan:''' That’s right. I guess you don’t mind the dark.<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' That is a question.<br>
'''Nika:''' (dryly) Is it dark?<br><br>
+
'''Arden:''' No, it’s a statement.<br><br>

'''Passenger One:''' You know, I served once aboard a ship if you need any help with anything ...<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Best judgment, please.<br><br>
'''Nika:''' I’ll keep that in mind, thank you much.<br>

'''Passenger Two:''' Didn’t you load ammo?<br>

'''Passenger One:''' Yeah. That’s a job. More than you’d ever done.<br>

'''Nika:''' (amused, despite) Yep. That is a job. We like that man.<br><br>

'''Nika:''' Rina! ''Where'' are you?<br>
+
'''Li:''' As long as I don’t make any calls your friend will be fine. <br>
'''Rina:''' (calling back) Engine room!<br>
+
'''Arden:''' And I want to be sure of that. So you won’t make any calls and you don’t go anywhere until she’s better.<br>
'''Nika:''' As if I needed to ask.<br><br>
+
'''Li:''' That’s not the way it works.<br>
 +
'''Arden:''' That’s the way it works for me.<br>
 +
'''Li:''' (to Kiera) You know how this works.  ''We don’t stick around''.<br><br>

'''Nika:''' Beggar says we can toss the primary power switch back up on the bridge, but if we do that I need to know you can move quickly enough so that whoever’s downstairs isn’t vented.<br>
+
'''Rina:''' (to self) ''Bozhe moi''. And I didn’t get to drink any vodka …<br><br>
'''Rina:''' The easiest way is to disconnect the servos on the cargo doors entirely, where they are.<br>

'''Nika:''' What exactly would that entail?<br>

'''Rina:''' The little motors that work the door, ''at'' the door.<br><br>

'''Nika:''' You’re gonna have to come up here and tell us when it’s done or I could stand here and listen while you shout if you want. Just bear in mind I don’t speak Russian so when you shout, don’t shout in Russian.<br>
+
'''Guard:''' Hey, you’re awake. (a beat) Mostly, the interrogation’s over but I have a question for ya.<br>
'''Rina:''' I’ll try not.<br>
+
'''Rina:''' (narrowly) Yeah?<br>
'''Nika:''' Aside from cuss words, cuz I picked up a few of those.<br>
+
'''Guard:''' You know how to play chess?<br>
'''Rina:''' Okay. So [[Episode 501: Shakedown Cruise, Special Features#HOW TO SPEAK RUSSIAN|''dierma'']] means everything’s okay, [[Episode 501: Shakedown Cruise, Special Features#HOW TO SPEAK RUSSIAN|''yebat’ menya'']] means we’re screwed. Okay? All right.<br><br>

'''Nika:''' Do these stupid little manholes actually go all the way down to where they are? Why don’t we tell’em to come up?<br>
+
'''Rina:''' You ever go after Reavers?<br>
'''Rina:''' (calling up) Well the problem is, is it comes out on the cargo deck ''behind'' the airlock door.<br>
+
'''Reich:''' What?! Is there a bounty on Reavers? <br>
'''Nika:''' Oh.<br>
+
'''Rina:''' (moves a piece) There should be.<br><br>
'''Rina:''' Yeah. So hopefully when I come out on this end, it’s not going to decompress on me.<br>

'''Nika:''' Please do not go floating into space. I do not want to fetch your ass.<br>

'''Rina:''' And I’d hate to have my ass fetched.<br><br>

'''Salesman:''' Well, there was this farmer back out on the Rim somewhere, he had this beautiful daughter.  Beautiful daughter … And so there I was, my mule was out of H2 and I had only half a box of seeds left.  And half of them were still.<br><br>
+
'''Kiera:''' What is it with them and their clothing?<br>
 +
'''Arden:''' Maybe they’re close personal friends.<br><br>

'''Rina:''' Fine. I’m going in.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' So, no abandoned warehouses.<br>
'''Joshua:''' Going in where?!<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' No. He’s a professional. He’s not going to do it in a warehouse.<br><br><br>
'''Rina:''' The hold.<br>

'''Joshua:''' The cigarette’s taken care of.<br>

'''Rina:''' ''How do you know it’s a cigarette?''<br>

'''Joshua:''' Because we watched him ''smoke'' it.<br>

'''Rina:''' '''''So?!'''''<br><br>

'''Nika:''' What ''in the bloody hell'' is going on down here?<br>
+
'''Part Two:'''<br><br>
'''Rina:''' (calling back) Fishing out the butt.<br>

'''Joshua:''' (off Nika’s squick) ''Not'' a metaphor.<br>

'''Nika:''' Thank you. (squick!) Uhnnn! … Oh, my God …<br><br>

'''Beglan:''' (nervous) Everyone’s okay? <br>
+
'''Man #1:''' This ship was flown by real-life heroes.<br>
'''Joshua:''' Yes.<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' Heroes. Oh!<br>
'''Beglan:''' No one’s out the airlock? <br>
+
'''Man #1:''' These people ''fed'' the people of Athens during the war.<br>
'''Joshua:''' Nope. We’re all good.<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' (wow) Are you serious?<br>
'''Beglan:''' No fires?<br>
+
'''Man #1:''' It’s a pity you don’t know the history and don’t care.<br>
'''Rina:''' (over the comms) ''Yet''.<br><br>
+
'''Arden:''' I don’t know but I do care. That’s why I’m asking!<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' I care!<br>
 +
'''Man #1:''' (to the others) C’mon guys. These guys don’t know what they’re sittin’ on—<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' Oh no, no no no no! Don’t leave!<br><br>

 +
'''Kiera:''' Now honey you done made’em mad an’ I could’a found a story. (running after the men) Wait, wait, wait.  I’m interested—! I’m interested. Tell me about our ship.  I love her. She’s purty. She’s a present.<br><br>

'''Part 3:''' <br> <br>
+
'''Man #1:''' Now, no offense. You probably bought it fair and square.<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' I did.<br>
 +
'''Man #1:''' It doesn’t belong in the hands of … you know, people who don’t know the history of her and don’t care.<br><br>

'''Joshua:''' What are we calling the cat?<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' I appreciate your time. I will have more respect for it. I will research it and see if this really is the ''Exeter''. You’re pretty sure it is?<br>
'''Arden:''' I haven’t given it a name yet.<br>
+
'''Man #1:''' Oh yeah. It’s got the stamp.<br>
'''Joshua:''' Okay. It’s your cat. Or you’re the one who achieved the cat, so …<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' The stamp?<br><br>
'''Arden:''' I have achieved catness. (pets the kitty) I have to find the cat’s personality.<br>

'''Joshua:''' That’s true.<br><br>

'''Joshua:''' Okay. So talk to me. What’s your plan?<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' You know for a Reader, you really can’t hide an emotion from your face.<br>
'''Kiera:''' I want to go back and see if the container’s back or if Hannibal’s back.<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' I wasn’t trying.<br><br>
'''Joshua:''' And then what?<br>

'''Kiera:''' See if we can talk to him and not his …<br>

'''Rina:''' His gatekeeper.<br>

'''Kiera:''' And Rina wants to go.<br>

'''Beglan:''' So we’re sending our twitchy person and the— (thinks better of it)<br>

'''Joshua:''' I’m not hearing an argument yet that suggests that this is the possible best strategy.<br>

'''Rina:''' (to Joshua) Then ''you'' go.<br>

'''Joshua:''' I’m not arguing that you go, I’m just trying to figure out why Rina is going.<br>

'''Kiera:''' ''She volunteered''.<br><br>

'''Nika:''' You know what? ''Joshua''.<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' I didn’t want to give them his location. ''I just want to know where he is''. It’s a piece of information that’s useful to have. Even if I don’t give it to them, knowing where he is gives us—<br>
'''Joshua:''' Yes, Captain?<br>
+
'''Arden:''' He’s somewhere on the planet.<br>
'''Nika:''' (sweetly) Would you please give me five credits from the ship’s stash?<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' (heavily) Yeah. I had that figured out.<br><br>
'''Joshua:''' Yes, Captain.<br>

'''Nika:''' Thank you.<br>

'''Joshua:''' We’re going to need to document that.<br>

'''Nika:''' That’s fine. It can come out of my pay.<br>

'''Joshua:''' I’m joking.<br>

'''Nika:''' (to Kiera) Come on. We’ll walk down, pass the ship on the way to the pub, ''because I need a beer''.<br><br>

'''Kiera:''' Hannibal! Dammit! <br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Well, that’s actually option number two to consider.  Not that I particularly believe in calling the authorities since it’s worked so tremendously well for us in the past…  But technically, they have kidnapped someone that they have not, as far as I’m aware—depending on how heavily they’ve drugged her—got a bounty on. Actually, is there a bounty on her head?<br>
She pounds on the airlock door.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' I have no idea.<br>
'''Kiera:''' Is this the way you treat your friends?! ''Gāisǐ de nǐ'', is this how you treat your friends?!<br><br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Yeah, I don’t actually know. That’s what I’m saying: it’s possible.<br>

'''Chu:''' Kiera! What are you doing here?<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' If they found out who she was, there might be a bounty. The reason why I’m asking is if they’ve actually illegally kidnapped a person, this is the one time we might actually be able to do something and do a formal complaint.<br>
'''Kiera:''' I need your help. Who did you piss off that you’re hiding in your ship? I did everything but jump up and down and scream your name.<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Yes, I agree, unless of course she has a bounty on her. In which case, they’re just collecting a bounty, and—<br>
'''Chu:''' It wasn’t me. A client. Did anyone see you?<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' What did you people '''''do''''' before I came aboard?!<br><br>
'''Kiera:''' No … Except for some guy, I kinda—<br>

'''Chu:''' (upset) So someone saw you!<br>

'''Kiera:''' There’s your guy with a gun— <br>

'''Chu:''' (more upset) ''I don’t have a guy with a gun!''<br>

'''Kiera:''' Aw, ''shi''… (sighs) Hold that thought.<br><br>

 +
'''Joshua:''' Well, it’s a pleasure to meet some veterans and—<br>
 +
'''Wysocki:''' You in the war?<br>
 +
'''Joshua:''' No, unfortunately not. Not by choice. And there’s a long story so don’t—too much to tell.<br>
 +
'''Wysocki:''' Everybody’s got a story. There’s no shame in not fightin’.<br>
 +
'''Joshua:''' And I appreciate those who did.<br><br>

'''Part 4:'''<br> <br>
+
'''Joshua:''' It seems like the local Browncoat population is fairly well aware of our ship’s history.<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' (turning) Oh? Did they come back by again?<br>
 +
'''Joshua:''' (focusing) There was a ''they''? And they ''came back by''?<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' Well there was a group of them and they were lookin’ at the back of our ship.<br>
 +
'''Arden:''' Surly ones.<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' (miffed) They were ''not'' surly until ''you were mean to them''. They were friendly. They were not surly.<br><br>

'''Kiera:''' Who have you pissed off now?<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' No, I played stupid and bought’em a drink in the bar.<br>
'''Chu:''' I haven’t pissed off anyone.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' I was stupid. I didn’t know what they were talking about.<br>
'''Kiera:''' Then why is there a guy with a gun outside?<br><br>
+
'''Kiera:''' (annoyed) That’s cuz you ''are'' stupid.<br>
 +
'''Arden:''' I ''said'' that!<br><br>

'''Kiera:''' (thumbs comm) Yeah.<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' She’s probably already startin’ to work on a way to get out of it. I’ve never seen her like—she just doesn’t handle imprisonment well. She’s … Like I said, she’s the best, the best engineer I know. (sincerely) She’s my love. I can’t let her—can’t let them take off with her.<br>
'''Rina:''' Gunman here is callin’ in reinforcements. Do what you gotta do and get out.<br>
+
'''Wysocki:''' How long we got to work on this?<br>
'''Kiera:''' Is the guy with the gun staying here?<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' I don’t know. I don’t have any, like … ''Soon''. <br><br>
'''Rina:''' I doubt he’s orderin’ pizza.<br>

'''Nika:''' Rina.  That is ''not'' helpful.<br><br>

'''Chu:''' No, no. The patient has paid extra to not have anyone know.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' Are you doing this hoping it’s going to be Stupid Night?  He can use any gun he wants. I’m going to carry a gun.<br>
'''Kiera:''' It doesn’t matter. I don’t need to know.<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Oh, no you’re not. <br>
'''Chu:''' No, because you—<br>
+
'''Arden:''' Oh, yes I am.<br><br>
'''Kiera:''' I don’t know anything!<br>

'''Chu:''' But you will have seen the patient.<br>

'''Kiera:''' I’ll close my eyes.<br><br>

'''Kiera:''' He’s a ''lā shǐ!'' You owe me my ''tā mā de'' sunglasses! (to Li) I want my ''tā mā de'' sunglasses! '''''Sunglasses!'''''<br> <br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Okay.  ''She’s'' not allowed to carry. <br>
 +
'''Arden:''' She’s what?<br>
 +
'''Joshua:''' I don’t want her carrying.<br>
 +
'''Arden:''' Right. Like that’s gonna happen.<br><br>

'''Kiera:''' Sunglasses aren’t ready yet.<br>
+
'''Reich:''' Hey, can’t we just wait a little bit, Bob?  We’re almost done with the game. (whispers) ''I’ve almost got her … (holds up fingers) … Like, in this many moves …'' <br><br>
'''Rina:''' I ''told'' you you should have gone to Lenscrafters. They’ll do it in about an hour.<br>

'''Kiera:''' I can’t afford freakin’ Lenscrafters!<br>

'''Rina:''' You get what you pay for. You’re ''such'' a cheapskate!<br><br>

'''Nika:''' So, the way I understand it based on the way you said it to me, he has a patient in the process of running from a bunch of assassins who are waiting for both him and his doctor to come down the stairs?<br>
+
'''Reich:''' (friendly) We’ll probably be here a couple’a days if you wanna come back and finish that game. I’ll take a picture of the board.<br>
'''Kiera:''' Yes.<br>
+
'''Rina:''' (blinks) ''V’seriozni''?<br>
'''Nika:''' That’s kinda retarded, actually. <br> <br>
+
'''Reich:''' Is that … uh … Chinese? My Chinese ain’t so good.<br><br>

'''Kiera:''' I’m not 100% sure but I think we’re being followed.<br>
+
'''Orvis:''' Ma’am, are you all right?<br>
'''Rina:''' Of course. You are never alone. That’s Moscow Rule #4.<br><br>
+
'''Rina:''' Nothing injured but my dignity. Let’s go.<br>
 +
'''Joshua:''' (evenly) As long as she is safe and sound, that is all I am concerned about.<br><br><br>

'''Joshua:''' It doesn’t really matter to me. I’m not worried about the law.<br>

'''Nika:''' Then what are you worried about.<br>

'''Joshua:''' I’m more worried about that Mystery Person X is going to have this done and then wipe everybody clean that happens to know anything about it, versus Mystery Person Y who wants to kill Mystery Person X. Which is a whole different situation.<br><br>

 +
'''Part Three:'''<br><br>

'''Part 5:''' <br> <br>
+
'''Jeanne-Christienne:''' I should tell you … (hesitates) … I believe that there are men after me.  That is why I had my eyes done. I worry that if they find me … (small voice) … it will be bad.<br>
 +
'''Nika:''' Yeahhhh, I kinda figured I knew who you were.<br>
 +
'''Jeanne-Christienne:''' You know who I am?<br>
 +
'''Nika:''' Well, at least insofar as the doctor who was doing your eyes was also doing mine and he was unwilling to expose you in any fashion.<br>
 +
'''Jeanne-Christienne:''' Are you … are you also running from a man?<br><br>

'''Chu:''' And she must be blindfolded.<br>
+
'''Rina:''' (undertone) Yeah, they said the interrogation’s mostly over but what did they ask me?<br>
'''Arden:''' She’s ''blind!''<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Well, I don’t know if that went really well or really poorly.<br>
'''Kiera:''' (to Chu) Honey, she can’t ''see''.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' Does it really matter?  We’re done.  We’re away.<br>
'''Chu:''' Oh, she actually needs eyes.<br><br>
+
'''Joshua:''' No, we’re not away. We’re not away yet. Not until we have Nika.<br><br>

'''Kiera:''' Okay, look. Criminals don’t tend to lay everything out and go, “Oh just lemme lay everything out and put all my cards on the table”, cuz when you do that, that’s called “I got 83 guys with guns and I’m about to screw you”.<br>
+
'''Beglan:''' Hey! You got Rina!  (racing up) Good to see ya. <br>
'''Joshua:''' Yeah, but when you put the one card on the table, it was clear that it was a card.  Not like, say, like a screwdriver.  That’s why I’ll never fit in with the criminal element.<br>
+
'''Rina:''' Yeah.<br>
'''Kiera:''' That whole “Why are you not honest with them!?  Are you insane?<br>
+
'''Beglan:''' You look a little shell shocked. You all right?<br>
'''Joshua:''' It’s not that. It’s the whole clear communication part. Even your ''lies'' are unclear.<br>
+
'''Rina:''' (deep breath) I don’t know.<br><br>

'''Nika:''' My twitchy people are having conniptions. My good friends are having kittens. And my XO is … still mildly perturbed.<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' I hope she’s still down in bed, still out, because she shouldn’t be waking up that quick.<br>
'''Joshua:''' At what? All I—<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' Of course she shouldn’t. <br>
'''Nika:''' ''Yes''.<br>
+
'''Rina:''' Yeah, but this is Nika.<br><br>
'''Joshua:''' It’s your decision to make, Captain, in this regard. It’s your decision to make, Nika. <br>

'''Nika:''' Yes, it is. And I’ve already made it.<br>

'''Joshua:''' Then good. Cuz the clock is ticking. (points to Kiera) She gave me an hour.<br>

'''Kiera:''' And a half!<br>

'''Nika:''' And you’re still sittin’ here, I don’t know why.<br><br>

'''Nika:''' ''Irina''. Cease sighing in my direction.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' Abseiling?<br>
'''Rina:''' (sighs anyway) I don’t like this.<br>
+
'''Joshua:''' No, I don’t ''want'' to abseil.<br>
'''Nika:''' (easily) I know that.<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' Anybody want coffee?<br><br>
'''Arden:''' I don’t like this either.<br>

'''Nika:''' I know that. (a beat) But you know what?<br>

'''Arden:''' You don’t care.<br>

'''Nika:''' ''I do care''. I don’t like being blind.<br><br>

'''Nika:''' Take care of him.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' (to Rina) Actually I need to look you over first. I need to runs some scans to make sure nothing’s been implanted in her or … <br>
'''Rina:''' (softly) Take care of yourself. I want my Captain back.<br><br>
+
'''Rina:''' Or?<br>
 +
'''Arden:''' (off her look) Not that ''that’s'' ever happened before.<br>
 +
'''Rina:''' In fact, I’m going to insist on that.  (glares) Thank you ''so much'' for bringing it up.<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' Would you like some coffee?<br>
 +
'''Rina:''' Tell me, Arden. Did you stock a rape kit, while you were at it?<br><br><br>

'''Rina:''' See you on the other side.<br>

'''Nika:''' Let’s hope.<br>

'''Rina:''' All right.  Look out for pickpockets.<br>

'''Nika:''' (dryly) I’m supposed to ''see'' them?<br><br>

'''Rina:''' We need throat mikes.<br>
+
'''Part Four:'''<br><br>
'''Joshua:''' We don’t have throat mikes.<br>

'''Rina:''' Yet.<br>

'''Joshua:''' Someday.<br><br>

'''Rina:''' Geez, you guys really reinforce the cover charge like aces. Damn.<br>
+
'''Rina:''' That Reich guy seemed awfully friendly. I was totally out of it for hours. How much more lucky was he hoping to get?<br><br>
'''Gunman:''' Why don’t you put your hands in the air. At this range, I’m pretty sure this’ll sting a bit if I have to use it.<br>

'''Rina:''' This … isn’t about the cover charge?<br>

'''Gunman:''' That’s okay. I like it when they play dumb.<br><br>

'''Rina:''' Oh, please. I’ve had people jump me faster than this. My grandmother’s faster than you. Are you gonna rape me or not?<br>
+
'''Rina:''' What was it doing in there?<br>
'''Gunman:''' The night’s still young.<br>
+
'''Arden:''' It was doing whatever a cat does when it wants to hide.<br>
'''Rina:''' Not from where I’m standing. My God, you’re so slow. (a beat) Oh, don’t tell me you like ''boys'' <br><br>
+
'''Beglan:''' Maybe it was in another dimension?<br>
 +
'''Arden:''' Just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean the cat can’t see them.<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' Oh, cool. That’s true.<br><br>

'''Chu:''' Most people find it a disturbing experience.<br>
+
'''Williamson:''' Yeah. Pretty good. I might have another job for ya.<br>
'''Nika:''' I was gonna say, am I gonna be doing a lot of screaming if I’m awake?<br>
+
'''Arden:''' Let me pass you over to our purser and let her take care of you.<br>
'''Chu:''' I will give you a paralytic to prevent that. (a beat) I will give you painkillers as well.<br><br>
+
'''Williamson:''' Yeah. Uh … Drake’s not around is he?<br><br>

'''Arden:''' But under the laws of the simplest explanation, it’s the most probable they are Alliance Marshalls.<br>
+
'''Williamson:''' I’m doin’ excellent, excellent. Listen. I got some cargo.<br>
'''Joshua:''' What Verse have you been living in? I don’t think I’ve ever run into anything where there’s a simplest explanation ever. (waves it off) Regardless of whether it’s Alliance Marshalls or not, what do we do?<br>
+
'''Kiera:''' You do?<br>
'''Kiera:''' Blow a ten on a clue-by-four?<br><br>
+
'''Williamson:''' Yeahhh.  I wonder if I can get you guys to come back and take it for me.<br>
 +
'''Kiera:''' I would love to. Talk price at me.<br><br>

'''Rina:''' Hello ?<br>
+
'''Williamson:''' I don’t want ya to land in any’a the major things—you know, this planet isn’t exactly friendly.<br>

DIALOGUE TO REWIND FOR

Joshua: Kiera. Prep the surgery room in case I need to be a small Chinese man within the next day.
Kiera: Kneecap a Chinese man? What?
Joshua: Kneecap a small Chinese man before I become him.
Kiera: Don’t forget the limp.

Arden: I got the impression they were Marshalls.
Joshua: Why?
Arden: I don’t remember why. I just know there’s a reason.
Joshua: (rolls with it) Okay.

Joshua: So I think the next step is for me to try—I don’t know what our time frame is. They didn’t get us a timeframe, did they? They didn’t mention something specific.
Beglan: Ahh….He did not. He said soon.
Joshua: Yeah, soon. But he didn’t say exactly when.
Kiera: Did he say where?

Joshua: Now the question is, is Rina going to do something that destroys any possibility of rescue.
Arden: It’s not a question.
Joshua: That is a question.
Arden: No, it’s a statement.

Joshua: Best judgment, please.

Li: As long as I don’t make any calls your friend will be fine.
Arden: And I want to be sure of that. So you won’t make any calls and you don’t go anywhere until she’s better.
Li: That’s not the way it works.
Arden: That’s the way it works for me.
Li: (to Kiera) You know how this works. We don’t stick around.

Rina: (to self) Bozhe moi. And I didn’t get to drink any vodka …

Guard: Hey, you’re awake. (a beat) Mostly, the interrogation’s over but I have a question for ya.
Rina: (narrowly) Yeah?
Guard: You know how to play chess?

Rina: You ever go after Reavers?
Reich: What?! Is there a bounty on Reavers?
Rina: (moves a piece) There should be.

Kiera: What is it with them and their clothing?
Arden: Maybe they’re close personal friends.

Arden: So, no abandoned warehouses.
Kiera: No. He’s a professional. He’s not going to do it in a warehouse.

Part Two:

Man #1: This ship was flown by real-life heroes.
Kiera: Heroes. Oh!
Man #1: These people fed the people of Athens during the war.
Kiera: (wow) Are you serious?
Man #1: It’s a pity you don’t know the history and don’t care.
Arden: I don’t know but I do care. That’s why I’m asking!
Kiera: I care!
Man #1: (to the others) C’mon guys. These guys don’t know what they’re sittin’ on—
Kiera: Oh no, no no no no! Don’t leave!

Kiera: Now honey you done made’em mad an’ I could’a found a story. (running after the men) Wait, wait, wait. I’m interested—! I’m interested. Tell me about our ship. I love her. She’s purty. She’s a present.

Man #1: Now, no offense. You probably bought it fair and square.
Kiera: I did.
Man #1: It doesn’t belong in the hands of … you know, people who don’t know the history of her and don’t care.

Kiera: I appreciate your time. I will have more respect for it. I will research it and see if this really is the Exeter. You’re pretty sure it is?
Man #1: Oh yeah. It’s got the stamp.
Kiera: The stamp?

Kiera: You know for a Reader, you really can’t hide an emotion from your face.
Joshua: I wasn’t trying.

Joshua: I didn’t want to give them his location. I just want to know where he is. It’s a piece of information that’s useful to have. Even if I don’t give it to them, knowing where he is gives us—
Arden: He’s somewhere on the planet.
Joshua: (heavily) Yeah. I had that figured out.

Joshua: Well, that’s actually option number two to consider. Not that I particularly believe in calling the authorities since it’s worked so tremendously well for us in the past… But technically, they have kidnapped someone that they have not, as far as I’m aware—depending on how heavily they’ve drugged her—got a bounty on. Actually, is there a bounty on her head?
Arden: I have no idea.
Joshua: Yeah, I don’t actually know. That’s what I’m saying: it’s possible.

Kiera: If they found out who she was, there might be a bounty. The reason why I’m asking is if they’ve actually illegally kidnapped a person, this is the one time we might actually be able to do something and do a formal complaint.
Joshua: Yes, I agree, unless of course she has a bounty on her. In which case, they’re just collecting a bounty, and—
Kiera: What did you people do before I came aboard?!

Joshua: Well, it’s a pleasure to meet some veterans and—
Wysocki: You in the war?
Joshua: No, unfortunately not. Not by choice. And there’s a long story so don’t—too much to tell.
Wysocki: Everybody’s got a story. There’s no shame in not fightin’.
Joshua: And I appreciate those who did.

Joshua: It seems like the local Browncoat population is fairly well aware of our ship’s history.
Kiera: (turning) Oh? Did they come back by again?
Joshua: (focusing) There was a they? And they came back by?
Kiera: Well there was a group of them and they were lookin’ at the back of our ship.
Arden: Surly ones.
Kiera: (miffed) They were not surly until you were mean to them. They were friendly. They were not surly.

Kiera: No, I played stupid and bought’em a drink in the bar.
Arden: I was stupid. I didn’t know what they were talking about.
Kiera: (annoyed) That’s cuz you are stupid.
Arden: I said that!

Joshua: She’s probably already startin’ to work on a way to get out of it. I’ve never seen her like—she just doesn’t handle imprisonment well. She’s … Like I said, she’s the best, the best engineer I know. (sincerely) She’s my love. I can’t let her—can’t let them take off with her.
Wysocki: How long we got to work on this?
Joshua: I don’t know. I don’t have any, like … Soon.

Arden: Are you doing this hoping it’s going to be Stupid Night? He can use any gun he wants. I’m going to carry a gun.
Joshua: Oh, no you’re not.
Arden: Oh, yes I am.

Joshua: Okay. She’s not allowed to carry.
Arden: She’s what?
Joshua: I don’t want her carrying.
Arden: Right. Like that’s gonna happen.

Reich: Hey, can’t we just wait a little bit, Bob? We’re almost done with the game. (whispers) I’ve almost got her … (holds up fingers) … Like, in this many moves …

Reich: (friendly) We’ll probably be here a couple’a days if you wanna come back and finish that game. I’ll take a picture of the board.
Rina: (blinks) V’seriozni?
Reich: Is that … uh … Chinese? My Chinese ain’t so good.

Orvis: Ma’am, are you all right?
Rina: Nothing injured but my dignity. Let’s go.
Joshua: (evenly) As long as she is safe and sound, that is all I am concerned about.

Part Three:

Jeanne-Christienne: I should tell you … (hesitates) … I believe that there are men after me. That is why I had my eyes done. I worry that if they find me … (small voice) … it will be bad.
Nika: Yeahhhh, I kinda figured I knew who you were.
Jeanne-Christienne: You know who I am?
Nika: Well, at least insofar as the doctor who was doing your eyes was also doing mine and he was unwilling to expose you in any fashion.
Jeanne-Christienne: Are you … are you also running from a man?

Rina: (undertone) Yeah, they said the interrogation’s mostly over but what did they ask me?
Joshua: Well, I don’t know if that went really well or really poorly.
Arden: Does it really matter? We’re done. We’re away.
Joshua: No, we’re not away. We’re not away yet. Not until we have Nika.

Beglan: Hey! You got Rina! (racing up) Good to see ya.
Rina: Yeah.
Beglan: You look a little shell shocked. You all right?
Rina: (deep breath) I don’t know.

Kiera: I hope she’s still down in bed, still out, because she shouldn’t be waking up that quick.
Joshua: Of course she shouldn’t.
Rina: Yeah, but this is Nika.

Arden: Abseiling?
Joshua: No, I don’t want to abseil.
Kiera: Anybody want coffee?

Arden: (to Rina) Actually I need to look you over first. I need to runs some scans to make sure nothing’s been implanted in her or …
Rina: Or?
Arden: (off her look) Not that that’s ever happened before.
Rina: In fact, I’m going to insist on that. (glares) Thank you so much for bringing it up.
Kiera: Would you like some coffee?
Rina: Tell me, Arden. Did you stock a rape kit, while you were at it?

Part Four:

Rina: That Reich guy seemed awfully friendly. I was totally out of it for hours. How much more lucky was he hoping to get?

Rina: What was it doing in there?
Arden: It was doing whatever a cat does when it wants to hide.
Beglan: Maybe it was in another dimension?
Arden: Just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean the cat can’t see them.
Kiera: Oh, cool. That’s true.

Williamson: Yeah. Pretty good. I might have another job for ya.
Arden: Let me pass you over to our purser and let her take care of you.
Williamson: Yeah. Uh … Drake’s not around is he?

Williamson: I’m doin’ excellent, excellent. Listen. I got some cargo.
Kiera: You do?
Williamson: Yeahhh. I wonder if I can get you guys to come back and take it for me.
Kiera: I would love to. Talk price at me.

Williamson: I don’t want ya to land in any’a the major things—you know, this planet isn’t exactly … friendly.
Kiera: Ah, ha. And you’re still going to pay me three hundred. Hm. You did me dirty.
Williamson: (wheedling) Oh, now, here’s the deal … I know you gotta heart’a gold here. Now the people here they got a boss and she’s a dragonlady. She extorts everything …

Williamson: Or she might steal the cargo right from under you. I wouldn’t put it past her. So you gotta come in kinda quiet-like. On the far side of the moon.
Kiera: You know, would there be possibly be a little bit’a bonus, considerin’?

Kiera: They might have to cut that commission to make it up for us. We are going into hostile territory.
Williamson: All right! Forget it then.
Kiera: Awww, now come on! Don’t be giving up!

Williamson: If you don’t want this deal, I can—
Kiera: No don’t be doin’ me dirty. I was flirtin’ with ya and I was playin’.
Williamson: Find someone else who—
Kiera: And you just gone off and get serious.

Arden: You okay?!
Nika: Well, I’m blind.
Arden: … Okay? Do we … come get you?

Arden: Uhnnn, I can’t come?

Henner: We apologize for kidnapping you.

Kiera: (to Arden) Joshua’s gonna wake up and find her hunched over the box, going “Queen to Knight 11…Check.”
Arden: (low) That’s how cortex romances start up …
Nika: I’ve seen worse ways.
Kiera: Yeah.
Joshua: I play chess.
Nika: Too late.

Kiera: That was the most competitive game of chess, ever. (to Joshua) She just had to have satisfaction.
Rina: Yeah. I did. (shakes Reich’s hand) Thanks.

Joshua: Are you going to ask me?
Arden: No.
Joshua: Why not?
Arden: Because I don’t think we have it.
Kiera: Actually, we would have it after this coming run.
Arden: Then I will ask.

Kiera: Dammit, the woman ran off with some of my clothes. The bitch.

Nika: Kiera. (a beat) What color are they?
