Some that came from Earth-That-Was, some that sprung up during the long voyage from Earth-That-Was, and some that came about after we began to colonize the new worlds. Even now, new ones are coming into existence. So what is the difference between a religion and a cult? That depends on who you ask but the main difference lies in which ones are recognized by the Alliance. Religions VS Cults

Some that came from Earth-That-Was, some that sprung up during the long voyage from Earth-That-Was, and some that came about after we began to colonize the new worlds.
