Fredrick "Pipes" Piper was a navy engineer, then served for years for Trans U, Then after they went out of business, he worked for Shulan-Maersk. He was lured away from a Chief Engineering job by Lazarus Quick. Convinced the easy life on a super freighter was no life at all, he came to work on Delilah. Always low on cash, and frequently on the run, Pipes jerry rigged nearly every system, and modified what he could. He served on the ship for years, eventually bringing his son aboard to take his place.
