WHAT'S BEEN KEEPING YOU AWAKE? Something is missing. I don't know what it is, but I can't sleep, because that missing piece nags at me. I'd beg borrow or Deal to get that piece back. But it eludes me. It eludes me, and I can't sleep.

That door just happened to me.

I been through it before. The depraved Deals the people and things beyond that door are willing to make, you wouldn't believe, and I couldn't resist. I went through it again. Only this time there was no door on the other side. No way to step back out of this Mad City.

WHAT'S ON THE SURFACE? You see me, you see a rough around the edges regular guy. Average build. Average looks. Average stance. Average suit. I'm not a man of far exotic destinations. I'm the guy from halfway there. I don't go where roads end. I wait where they cross in a hurry to go their separate ways.

WHAT LIES BENEATH? I know I don't look like much, but for well or ill I am always at the center of things. Always ready to meet the next person passing through, not as a casual stranger, but intently, purposefully waiting. I'm not a man looking for a destination. I am the destination.

WHAT IS YOUR PATH? Leverage. You can never have too much leverage. I don't Deal for souls. That's yesterday's Devil. If I made a Deal with you today, it's because I'll have need of you tomorrow.
