When Incorporated Damage is combined with Progressive Defense Skill/Ability one no longer needs a progressive Hitpoint system.  
Static Hitpoints/Vitality Points become the order of the day, with your Defense Skill being in control of advancements. There
are some strong implications because all sources of damage need thought of in terms of being Damage Reduced by various defensive
skills.

Once you have gotten inside an adversaries reach using a shorter weapon you are now in the advantaged position and you are often
able to wield the smaller weapon quicker... once your adversary forces you back out of this zone your are once again on the disadvantage.
