Fae Magic
Fae are inherently magical beings, masters of glamour (illusion) and enchantments and the second sight with some small skill in performing knacks and lesser conjurations. Some Fae are rumored to be able to magically heal wounds in mortals.
Mortal Magic
Not being inherently magical, mortals must learn to tap into forces the Fae touch as easy as breathing. Until they learn to master the simplest forms, mortal arcanists are vulnerable to detection and ensnarement by the Fae.
The lowest mortals with an affinity for magic - apprentices - quickly master auras, conjuration and knacks. As journeymen, they begin to learn abjuration, enchantment, and glamour, but only at considerable cost. Masters dispense with the cost of these advanced magics.
Unlike students of the Guild, Warders tend to master magics more erratically.
Ur Magic
Mastering - even studying - Necromancy or Transmutation is collectively forbidden by church, crown, and guild alike with penalties including forfeiture, prison, exile, death, and excommunication according to the severity o the offence.
