D&D material from the SRD system is imperative in order to make Khem an exciting world full of elements familiar to traditional roleplayers. Personally, i would not want to invest into learning  any rpg world that did not have the  familiar elements of D&D. Besides D&D has been extensively playtested for years.  therefore i shall construct Khem using material from the SRD system which thankfully has released much that role players know and love.
