Absolom volunteered for some of the most dangerous postings after graduating from the educational institutions. Despite being somewhat on the foolish side, his luck held and he qualified as a fairly competent test pilot in the Engel Project's research and development wing. After assisting with fine-tuning the development of a new super-heavy Engel class designated as the 'Chasmal,' he elected to transfer with his unit to a combat unit rather than be transfered to a different series of Engel to start testing them as well. His Engel Prometheus has the distinction of being the first Chasmal produced, and he takes his duty as pilot of the class's flagship seriously.
