He travels the world extensively to find material for his essays.

- Evelyn "Eva Mae" Harcourt, Callum's American ex-wife, a gorgeous, gravel-voiced spitfire in her late 30s. Last sent Callum a letter from Chicago, where she is dating a local "businessman". - Lord Marion Rutledge, Callum's publisher. A seemingly dottering old gentleman with a keen sense of the printed word. Based out of London, where he lives with his ailing wife Beatrice. - Kerry Harcourt, Callum's identical twin brother. Though "identical", Kerry seems rather more fit than Callum, and is muscular with a rosy complexion. Migrated to Pittsburgh for work when his own artistic dreams failed.
