Background
Anastasia "Errant" Hsien is an out-of-favor Capellan noble hiding out from the Moskirovka, recently in the service of the small and now-destroyed White Crane Company of mercenaries. What had been merely a series of skirmishes with the Federated Suns in support of Combine force turned into a slaughter when the DCMS units used the White Cranes as a diversion (without letting them know about it) to let them make a deep strike against the Davions. Anastasia’s scout Wasp, which she had managed to flee with when her family went into exile, was one of the first to run into (literally) the AFFS assault detachment, but in the withering fire her ‘mech took a head shot that disabled her communications before she could trigger ejection (and nearly cost her an arm).
The above is not entirely true. Anastasia Hsien’s family was discredited when her father tried to speak out against the latest misrule by the minor count from a cadet branch of House Liao he owed vassalage to, but Anastasia had been serving the Moskirovka as embedded security within the CCAF. With that posting untenable after her family’s fall into political disfavor, she was offered the opportunity (and ‘eventual’ restoration of her title) to shift to foreign intelligence by slipping into a mercenary corp and reporting on foreign (particularly AFFS) movements in that capacity. She had been assigned to steal DCMS military intelligence reports at the next client meeting before the disaster; now, she doesn’t know when or if she’ll be able to get in contact with her handler at all. At least there’s one bright side - her arm healed with a minimum of scarring. Of course, she needs to take on a job to even pay the doctors...
Ana is an excellent gunner but only a good pilot, more suited to ‘mechs which combine ranged striking power with the mobility to withdraw from return fire than the light, nimble scout mech that she ‘fled’ the Confederation with. A Dragon would suit her nicely.
While Anastasia possesses a wide array of technical and espionage skills from her Moskirovka training and is excellent at keeping her mouth shut, she’s never been good at opening it. Her parents have never quite concealed their disappointment that their heir wasn’t a properly graceful lady, which is part of what drove her to seek service in the secret police in the first place - a position in which she could serve the Confederation without having to be too pleasant about it. Now cut off from that - truly in exile for now, but still with secrets to keep - she has even more difficulty reaching out to people. "Errant" is a deceptively slight woman, wiry and tough. Stringy, shoulder-length black hair frames a pale, soft-featured face with piercing green eyes. When not armored up, she usually wears utilitarian, form-hugging jumpsuits rather than wear more fitting to her noble heritage.
