Beyond its light veneer as a place of entertainment Alamond is a place of permanence.

Calamir & Paragon are ancient examples of experiments in Law that were created in direct contact with the Stuff of Chaos. They were created without much thought as to needing defenses from being destroyed. Consequently, they were destroyed.

Amber was created with more planning with an eye toward some protection against the forces of Chaos and that lead to the creation of the Shadowlands. The Abyss was a great maw and tomb floating in boundless Chaos and when the Shadowlands rushed against it it became the vast dividing land and defensive wall for Amber.
