This relationship chart shows how the various characters from the Tales of the Jade Mantis see each other.

Pei Pei

  • Pei Pei's relationship with Christopher Jarrow is: He seems to be an honest enough man, so what is he doing in this nest of vipers?
  • Pei Pei's relationship with Hugo Raynes is: Bitter, angry, occasionally drunk. A typical man. No problems, but no great warmth.
  • Pei Pei's relationship with Nanny Ni Hao is: She made Pei-Pei's dream come true. Any other possible impressions are hidden behind love and gratitude. Nanny is the only one on the ship she'll take orders from.
  • Pei Pei's relationship with Marcus Chong is: He's okay, unless he as much as scratches the Mule. Then he's a clumsy brute giving her more work.
  • Pei Pei's relationship with Saul "Snakeoil" Jackson is: In contrast to the rest of the crew, Pei-Pei is rather enchanted by Saul's charisma and the fact he's close to Nanny. She trusts him much more than is wise.

Christopher Jarrow

  • Christopher Jarrow's relationship with Pei Pei is: Feels protective toward her (probably to her annoyance), concerned by her fascination with Saul, is his (Chris')interest purely paternal/platonic?
  • Christopher Jarrow's relationship with Hugo Raynes is: a solid man in a fight, doubtful they'll be friends with the war standing between them.
  • Christopher Jarrow's relationship with Nanny Ni Hao is: She can be difficult to get along with but things are never boring around her, she has a good heart.
  • Christopher Jarrow's relationship with Marcus Chong is: competent at what he does, beyond that we'll see.

Hugo Raynes

  • Hugo Raynes's relationship with Marcus Chong is: Ok, he's ex Alliance, but he knows how the get the best ingredients to make a nice stew.
  • Hugo Raynes's relationship with Saul "Snakeoil" Jackson is: Gotta watch him, when playing cards. Seems a bit greazy.
  • Hugo Raynes's relationship with Christopher Jarrow is: He smells Alliance, even worse, he smells upper class. He does like my food.
  • Hugo Raynes's relationship with Pei Pei: A good kid, she's seen some stuff, might be a kindred spirit.

Nanny Ni Hao

  • Nanny Ni Hao's relationship with Marcus Chong is: He's a reliable and trustworthy man. No need to shout at him...much. Likes to sit on the cargo ramp and smoke cigars with him.
  • Nanny Ni Hao's relationship with Saul "Snakeoil" Jackson is: Her best council but untrustworthy. A good friend and ex lover.
  • Nanny Ni Hao's relationship with Pei Pei is : She's shaping up fine but needs to be taken out of her shell to be one of her 'fostered'.
  • Nanny Ni Hao's relationship with Hugo Raynes is : Good in a fight. One to watch though. Nice noodles.
  • Nanny Ni Hao's relationship with Christopher Jarrow is: He does his job. Frees her up for other stuff. Will have to see if he makes the 'grade'.
