This section was very deliberately not called "Charms" which is what you might have expected. First and foremost, because it is not intended to be a one-for-one translation of Exalted's Charms into Powers. The aim is simply to be guidance for mimicking collections of Charms with Powers. Secondly, Powers are the term of reference Strands of Fate uses, and one of the motivations is to get us away from Exalted-think.

Requires a Power Source and the Essence Affinity Ability


This is an augmentation of the Shapeshifting Power to fit the specifics of how Lunars use it. Other creatures with 'shifting powers may use the base Power differently.

The Theme for Lunar shifting is natural animals and people. They cannot, for example, turn into a cloak, anvil or tree. Nor can they (without paying for the Modifier below) turn into a fire elemental.

The Rotes in question here are specific animal forms (each of which you must have drunk the hearts-blood as well as paid 5XP to add to your list), when changing into them, you take the Physical stats of a normal animal. The rules for custom forms on p173 still apply for beastman transformations.

The Tell is a visible facet in every form that marks out the particular Lunar. It might be a blaze of colour or a forked tongue that appears in all their forms and cannot be hidden.

You may also activate Transmogrification as a free action while changing, but these augmentations last only for the scene.

Modifiers:

+1 (Broader Shifting): You are not limited merely to the forms of natural animals and your own half-beast forms, but can take on the forms of anything living with your Rotes.
+1 (Shapeshifting Mastery): As per p173.
+1 (Mass Shifting): As per p173. You may shift your size category up or down one for free, this Modifier is required to go beyond that.


In addition, Transmogrification is a key Lunar Power, enabling the emulation of other Powers while in both human and beast forms. These emulations always take on a feral appearance, Armour appearing as a pelt of thick hide or reptilian scales, Body Weaponry in the form of talons, claws or fangs and so on.
