Evangiline is the Haute Monde doyenne. She is the leader of the city's Toreador, and the one who decides if a style is acceptable. Tradition is acceptable. From her stronghold – pleasure palace at the nightclub "The Side Paddle" she enforces gentility and nostalgia, and strives to hold back the coarsening influences of modernity and primitivism. "I declare, I'm certain you didn't know any better, did you? Bless your heart."
