ShatteredPrism:Races Shii’Rai
Shii'Rai
Physiology
Appearance
The Shii'Rai are a quadupedal feline species. Their physical appearance resembles terran panther, with lion-like coloring of their short fur, and tail length about half that of the terran panther. Their height is 1 meter at the shoulder, and they average 2.3 meters long. The weight of females varies between 180-200 kg. Males reach only 2 meters long. They weigh approximately 150 to 170 kg.
Locomotion & Manipulation
Built primarily for speed, they still have enough strength and stamina to maintain top speed for a fair distance, as well as to take down prey one and a half times larger than themselves. Limbs have 18 digits (four on hindpaws, five fore), and forepaws are capable of limited grasping. Shii'Rai can also carefully grip things in their jaws.
Communcation & Interaction
Shii'Rai vocal organs are human-range capable, and they have a complex spoken language. Simple body motions (mostly tail movement and positioning)help them to convey emotion.
Body Chemistry
Shii'Rai are carbon-based. Their blood, like those of many other races, is iron-based. The skeletal structure, however, is calcium and boron based.
Senses
The Shii'Rai have excellent senses of smell and hearing. Their color vision is poor, as is their visual distance range to some extent, but they make up for this with good night vision. Taste and touch operate as normal.
Lifespan & Lifecycles
The members of the Shii'Rai normally live to an age of 110. Their young mature at the age of 10, and by 70, they have begun to experience the problems of old age.
