When he was young Bathar wandered far from his settlement. He got lost and nearly froze but ended up on the surface and saw the stars for the first time. He was struck with wonder. He became obsessed with the stars and outside world. When he came of age he chose to leave the Aenar community to the disapproval of his Clan. Bathar made a difficult choice and feels compelled to prove that he can make it on his own.

Starfleet Academy: Tarnished Honour
When Bathar arrived at Starfleet Academy he struggled to adapt to his new environment. He found solace in piloting. He became competitive and soon rivaled the best in his year. In his final year at the Academy it was down to Bathar and Suvirosa for the top spot in piloting rankings. They were evenly matched. The only way he could win was to resort to mental trickery (technically not against the rules), an act of which he is still ashamed of even to this day.

First Posting: Look Beneath the Surface
After the Academy Bathar was briefly assigned to Utopia Planatia as a pilot for the project that adapted the Delta Flierfor mass production to outfit the fleet. An accident with one of the test ships nearly killed him and severly injured his copilot. At first he blamed the lead engineer Lt. Commander Aila. Determined to prove that it wasn't the ships fault she recruited him into uncovering the real cause of the accident: A sub space lifeform that had disrupted the shuttles warp field. Working together Aila and Bathar were able to communicate with the creature and able to send it back to it's home dimension.
