Background
Milton is a young Brazilian pilot who flew missions at the early stages of the Battle of the Atlantic. In early June ‘42, his Catalina was shot down by anti-aircraft guns while on a mission to bomb a U-boat. Milton and his crew were recorded as KIA, but two days later showed up in the U-boat alive and well – Milton had “convinced” the German captain to take them back home and surrender.
Identified as a Talent and codenamed Velvet (because of his “velvety voice"), Milton was deemed far too valuable to be flying sorties over the sea and was shipped to the European theater to join a Talent Operation Group (TOG). Throughout June and July, he faced Axis superpowered operatives. That’s when Milton realized his power was far broader than just the Voice (his superpersuasion’s nickname) – he could synch with other people. With regular individuals, this manifested as the Voice and a knack for languages; with Talents, however, it allowed him to copy their powers.
In late July, Milton’s TOG faced a German Talent squad called the Einherjar. He ended up in close combat with Gungnir, who had a somewhat similar power: she could manifest the necessary abilities to overcome her foe. Against Milton, Gungnir’s power left her unpowered. The two had to resort to brawling, which ended in a stalemate.
Already having to work twice as hard than her comrades to prove that a Frau deserved to be in the Einherjar, Gungnir felt humiliated by the result and swore vengeance on Milton.
Now, Milton has been reassigned to the Pacific theater.
