Topanga

  • Barry Hansen-Mayor. Dr. Demento

Topanga is a region of steep hilly valleys rich with water and plant life. Scrub oaks, Live Oaks, Pine, Redwood, and other thick vegetation. Vast numbers of fruit trees nesle in the region as well as wild vegetables and grains.

Travel in Topanga

The Great Train Route skirts the edge of Topanga at a city called Crestview. From there local transportation can be used for travel inside Topanga.

For local use a tram service runs through the tight twisting area on road barely wide enough for trams to pass each other. Tiny vehicles similar to golf-carts are used by locals. Animals like horses, dottles, llama, ostriches, and goats are common. Wagons using wheels or levitation plates are hand pulled or animal pulled.

The region uses transporter technology extensively. Transporters are often point to point devices found at some point in each nestled community. Some, but by no means all, residences have transporter pads. Transfer gates go from Region to region

The encampment is unusual since besides small theaters and performance venue it is mostly residential areas. There are many franchise restaurants and business areas nestled into the canyons but they blend in well and are hardly noticeable unless you drive through them. Each of the business districts contain a fairly unusual number of small business like gift shops and art galleries.

Festivals

Many of the commercial districts anchor artistic festivals.

Residential Districts

Most residences are of highly distinctive natures reflecting the owner's tastes. The technology level is high but not always used. Topanga is at its heart a artistic encampment and the residences are indicative of the personal styles of the residents.

A "Cluster" or residential grouping will often be anchored by a small commercial area in the crook of a road. These will have restaurants and markets but also small storefronts representing the interests of local residents.
