Personal Details, Work Performance, Special Training, and Other Notes
Magnolia Mar, or Maggie to her friends, grew up just this side of starvation. Running with a pack of starving orphaned children, she soon learned that, in order for her to eat, someone else got less. And, if she wanted to eat well, someone else probably didn't eat at all; she was okay with that.
Everyone in the pack who actually thrived had some skill to lean on. Some of the orphans used their fists, others learned to be sneaky, but her weapon of choice was her words. You wouldn't believe how many suckers just line up to give a cute orphan something to eat.
For as far back as she can remember, Roderick Staff has been at her side. Sometimes he watched her back; other times she watched his. Their friendship periodically turns into an awkward romance for brief periods, but, for now, they've decided that they are just too alike. Roderick still has a hand in the criminal element, but right now he's trying to go legit.
Fast forward several years and her silver tongue earned her a place in the Day Crime Family's orbit. A low place, with "room to grow", but her way with words and forceful personality landed her with her best friend, Beckie Day, Mr. Day's daughter. Her roles among the Day family have been varied, but her favorites are always the long cons.
That brings her to her most complicated friendship, Zettie Cochran. Zettie was, initially, the victim of a honey trap. Somewhere through it all, Maggie got soft on her, and the con fell apart. Zettie was more than a little shocked to find out the woman she was having an illicit affair with was a fiction. A lot of hard conversations later, and the two became friends.
