Personal Details, Work Performance, Special Training and Other Notes[edit]

Guy Jewett grew up in Aberdeen, Washington working as a timber cruiser, logger and trapper... his family is French Canadian, hence the names. He was a hard worker and a solid athlete who was easy to get along with, if laconic. A strong gymnast and a solid climber around the Olympic Mountains. He had been all over Washington as a wildland firefighter as well. After Pearl Harbour, he volunteered early as it seemed the right thing to do. He quickly signed up for the infantry and had completed his basic and advanced skills training when the call came for "outdoorsmen" his name was brought up and he again volunteered. On arrival in Helena he was hit hard by the intense training but heartened by the camraderie on offer from his fellow backwoods folk. In Helena as well as the Canadian/ American unit. The first deployment to Kiska, Alaska was cold, wet and hard but no combat and time was stretched while they were shipped to Africa and then Italy. By the time he was sent to Anzio they had lost half of his buddies and were truly a hardened unit. Fighting across the Siegfried line was incredibly tough, he was wounded again. His third. Again the call came out, this time for Francophones, everyone looked at Guy. Again he volunteered but this time stung, he knew better and had found his comrades...

The transfer the the Provisional Ranger Group put him in front of a bunch of new faces, some he recognized from Italy, but very few indeed. Those that did knew the Black Devils were solid soldiers. He hung onto his red arrowhead patched jacket and his combat knife as hard earned and told himself he would get back to the 'Devils.' He also kept his lucky hatchet as well as his mountain pack and kit from the 1SSF. Silver wedding band, a rabbit's foot, a deck of cards
