Rune the Manaforged.jpg

Created an unknown amount of time ago (though it was long indeed) from a fusion of science and mysticism in a ancient imbuement forge known only as Omega-Zero, Rune is one of a series of manaforged crafted using the lost techniques of the Demiurge in order to study their works and unlock their secrets. One of the elite Runekeeper Manaforged stands anywhere between eight to nine feet tall and is often much thinner and less physically powerful than other robotic types, though they are granted strange powers and symbiotic weapons to help shore up the difference.

Stunts

Symbiotic Bio-Claws: Bonded to Rune's left arm as a living weapon is a set of large, retractable three-fingered claws that drip with burning bio-plasma. This symbiote is entwined with Rune's own mystic core and intelligence processors, granting it a fragment of sentience which allows it to learn, adapt, and overcome. When Rune enters a conflict with an opponent they have ever faced before—more mantamen; opponents armed with swords—Rune immediately gains a boost based on their prior experience.

Thousandfold Foresight Calculations: Thanks to Rune's imbued database and ancient processors, they can often calculate entire events and outcomes to predict what will happen before anyone else could even conceive of or react to it. Once per scene, when Rune Carefully Defends against a trap or an inanimate threat, they can outcome surge the result.

Invokes, Compels, and Permissions

Manaforged: A manaforged is a mystically imbued robot with advanced intelligence, created in ancient days at unimaginably intricate and mighty forge laboratories. All manaforged have some type of 'battery' system allowing them to operate, in some (possibly newer) models this is self-contained and renewing, while other (often older) models sometimes require a recharge if they overexert their ambient energy-draining systems.

  • Invoke to withstand conditions no living creature could; to understand the melding of machine and mystical on an instinctual level; to understand, memorize, and process massive amounts of data.
  • Compel to be unable to relate with non-machine folk; to be socially awkward and stand out; to require a period of rest to literally recharge by draining energy from the environment.
  • Permission to never have to eat, drink, sleep, breathe, or do anything else of that nature; to interact with machines and technology as if it were a person; to be immune to such trivialities as cold, heat, and fatigue.

True Rune of Life and Death: As an Archeonaut and a Runekeeper, Rune was built with a driving force in their consciousness: find the ancient runes and artifacts of the Demiurge to unravel their hidden mysteries and turn them against the Masters. And now they have, having located something of immense power and intrigue. The True Rune of Life and Death, also known as the Soul Eater, is one of the legendary twenty-seven True Runes of the Demiurge - impossibly ancient and powerful artifacts that have great influence over the primal, fundamental forces of existence, granting tremendous power and an immunity to aging. Of course, they don't get old anyway, and it would help if they could figure how to actually use the thing. And if it wasn't permanently bonded to his right hand. And if the Masters would stop coming after him. And if people would stop dying around him to feed the Rune, even if it makes them stronger.

  • Invoke to: Be a beacon of life, bringing growth, health, and hope; to bring death in peaceful and necessary fashion; to know and understand those two fundamental forces and how they interact; to summon impossible power in dire need at a cost.
  • Compel to: Become a target for the Masters; to be a harbinger of abrupt and painful death, a herald of the end; to accidentally and unwillingly devour souls and life energy; to be seen as a curse and a danger.
  • Permission to: Be immune to aging, wear and tear, and degeneration of the self; to sense the presence or bearers of other True Runes; to heal or harm at will with a touch or gesture; to be at peace with oneself thanks to the truths revealed by the True Rune.
