Technopathy: The nanotech bonded with her cells lets her control machinery by temporarily fusing with it. She can also tap into electronic communications, although this is often overwhelming.

Who were you before?
Activist, idealist, musician. Damascus was actually AJ's stage name before the change.

When did you change? What caused it?
A few months ago, at a protest outside Rook Industries. A couple of villains called Magpie and Packrat used the protest as a distraction to steal some experimental nanotech, and some of Rook's metahuman security tried to stop them. Containment was breached during the ensuing firefight and she got millions of dollars' worth of nanobots in the face, swiftly bonding with her cells and remaking her into a stronger form.

Who, outside of the team, is helping you understand your new body?
Doctor Alison Knight, formerly the superhero Argent Knight. Dr Knight is a more conventional cyborg, an expert in mind/machine interfaces, and was a consultant on Rook's nanotech project. She feels guilty for her part in what happened.

Why don’t you just try to hide yourself away?
Never did before, not going to start now. I always wanted to do some good in the world, even if this wasn't how I wanted it.

Why do you care about the team?
They don't look at me like a freak, or a science experiment, or a machine. They don't fear me or pity me. We may not always get on, but we're equals.
