An opportunity has come my way and I can not take the risk that your choice would be to deny me.  

You asked me to research the blades and I have done so:

Many things in shadow are possible.  In many shadows Vulcan, who forged the swords, was a figment of the minds of the worshipful.  We have spoken of this.

But the realm Brand sought was one of great power where the blades would be of great power. He sought too well.  The Vulcan, who forged the blades he stole was '''Ranvir Calmir''', one of the last two survivors of the royal line of '''Calmir'''.  To add insult to theft, Brand inscribed these 12 blades using the Jewel of Judgment while its own fires of creation had just created Avalon. 

Get these blades quick.  It is my judgment that they belong behind the doors of the Tomb of the Ancestors of Darkness.  When you have the other 11, i shall bring the 12th to you.

Vander and I gave one lowly and despised the opportunity to summon the 12 blades to him.  Only one answered.  
Now one that has been denied the throne by the Unicorn and is despised by his kin has claimed it.

I can not pass up the opportunity this blade gives me to further goals of mine, long held ones.
