Nel[edit]

Nel is honestly one of the more social nerds in the world. In fact, he is someone who mostly fell into it because he's a member of a Medieval Reconstruction Combat club - quite simply, he's one of the few people in the modern world who knows his way around a sword. For the most part, it was all in good fun, but then his fascination with history led him to discovering that apparently, he was a descendant of a rather obscure house of knights who mysteriously vanished from records circa the Reformation. He didn't care, except as he decided to adopt their oddly runic heraldry...

Long story short, he discovered the hard way that the reason they vanished was because of their natural talent for magic inherited from Norse sedir ancestors, used as an extra bit of force to serve as the king's enforcers, as of the actual Inquisition they went to ground - they could probably deal, except one went utterly nutbar and started using his magic to drain life force to remain a powerful fighter, and by using their distinct focuses, he both awoke his long-dormant abilities and undid the quiet weighted bargain needed to keep Sir Francois de Poirier asleep - and said bargain meant he appeared right in the middle of town. Even more unfortunately never a stupid man (a brute, certainly, but a very disciplined and tactically minded brute), Franc quickly realized how much time had passed and that he didn't speak English, fleeing into the woods with a bunch of all-too-accurate weapons to start getting the hang of living in the modern day - and draining the knowledge needed to do so. As a result, Nel has rapidly had to find himself unwillingly (in the sense of having his destiny bound to the medieval war criminal he accidentally unleashed, not because it isn't cool) becoming a mage-knight to match Franc. Which means the LARP never stops now, he keeps to a self-drafted code of chivalry, that he fully admits is kind of "the paladin code from Pathfinder, with some affordances to the modern day."

Still, he managed to track down most of his family's collection of demonic lore, even if he had to go into bad debt with his father over it - he isn't hurting, hence the lack of a Drawback, but his fairly wealthy family has cut his allowance for the near future, though he was honest about what he wanted, and to be frank it's a nice conversation piece.
