Sutulak

  • The church of Bane is the most prominent religious focus of the Turathi slave-state. Small infractions against the crown are punished by lengthy terms of indentured servitude to the order and discipline of Bane. These slaves are often in the infantry of the Turathi armies, goaded forward by the warrior-priests of the Iron Crown. A temple-fortress dedicated to Bane, the Iron Crown rests in Sutulak, and has recently been the focus of raids by the Keepers of the Hidden Flame.

Vor Kragal

  • While nominally ruled by the Emperor, true power in the Bael Turath lies with the heads of the noble families. They are by no means unified, however. Old enmities and the struggle for influence mean that the Turathi aristocracy is fractured and unstable. The fact that the Emperor currently has no male heir is a major source of tension. The Empire is as much in danger from within as from without.
  • In recent years, the Imperial forces have added many new provinces to Turathi lands, such as the Gnoll Highlands. This makes the frontiers especially volatile places, as they had not been completely subjected when Arkhosia attacked.
  • The rulers of the Empire are exclusively noble-born Tieflings, but, even including those who are not nobles, Tieflings are a small minority in their own lands. Thus, the Turathi make extensive use of mercenaries in their armies. Also, a typical Turathi city is a very diverse place, and trade thrives there. Many merchants have a love-hate relationship with the Turathi: they dislike their high-handed ways and high taxes, but cannot ignore the lucrative deals possible in the large cities of Bael Turath.
  • Ruled by three Tiefling houses - the Barikdral, Kahlir and Zalfura
  • Locations: Charspire, Vein Maze, Hellforge Crucible, Tower of the Mirror King, Pyramid of Lost Tales, Bliss
