K

Age: Around her early thirties, hard to pinpoint

Ethnicity: Half-Chinese - can pass for Asian, but slightly taller and paler than the norm.

General appearance: Thin and lanky, coal-black hair in a brushed-back page cut (see picture on the wiki) and a near-omnpresent grin that would be called "Cheshirean" in any other environment than Baroque. Arms and parts of torso covered in an intricate set of disparate magickal tattoos, scarifications etc.

Skills:

  • Great (+4): Deceit
  • Good (+3): Mysteries, Resolve, Contacting
  • Fair (+2): Rapport, Alertness, Sleight of hand, Gambling,
  • Average (+1): Burglary,Investigation, Stealth, Athletics, Academics

Aspects:

One with the whisper-stream K is a part of the chatter network of the underworld. Invoked to know people and places, to get hold of information or black market goods. Compelled for the trouble that comes with being part of that same shadowy society - obligations that demand attention and deals that must be upheld.

A thousand cons, a thousand lies K lives and breathes bluffs, cons and lies. Invoked to enhance the con game - either to make up bluffs of her own, to spot that "three-man Clondyke" being worked against her or someone else. Compelled to make her life more complicated, as the lies become more real that the mercurial truth and old cons come back to haunt her.

Bastard of the black arts She has seen stuff you wouldn´t believe, and exorcised demons from streetkids in Darfur working from patched-together manuscripts of the Book of Angel Spit and pure grit. Invoked to take advantage of her enormous occult real-life experiences, knowledge and/or salvaged pieces of paraphernalia. Compelled for various occult Bad Stuff, or resentment from the Church or more "refined" orders/cabals of mages.

Never the children Possibly as a result of her own less-than-ideal childhood (of which we know but snippets), she just simply can´t abide children getting hurt, nor the people who hurt them. Consequently, she acts to prevent the former and hurt the latter. Compelled to grant her inner strength when acting out this selfless trait or with people who might know her for what she has accomplished, and invoked for forcing her to act or possibly run into even more old enemies.

Painted skin K:s body is patterned with a multitude of protective thaumaturgic tattoos, totems and scarifications. Some make her invisible to curses, some ward off harmful spells, some simply keep her out of the eyes of previously enraged entities. Invoked, obviously, to protect from magical harm or to give her small edges here and there. I´m up for suggestions on compels, though - pissed-off demons or ghosts? Gah, even more enemies.

Dirty Secrets, Dirty Jobs K has traveled the world and worked about every echelon of the shady side of society at one time or the other - she has had to learn the hard way how to pick a lock, the proper way to dispose of partially eaten bodies, how to set up meetings between rival factions of hair-trigger gunslingers and how to make off with the stolen kidney of the Mayor of Urkatsk (and indeed, how to get it out in the first place). It´s a lifestyle. Invoked to claim experience on a zillion types of criminal (or otherwise unsavory) activities or to pull out the worn notebook of blackmail information, compelled to get into trouble because of past crimes or to force her to work to preserve her own secrets.

Stunts:

  • Conwoman (Modified from vanilla SotC: allows K to use Deceit in place of Empathy, pure and simple.)
  • Clever Façade (Deceit: can get a free read on people who are fooled by my façade.)
  • Rare Artifact (Mysteries: fear my occult Bat-belt! Uh, with possible side consequences.)
  • Sixth Sense (Mysteries; after a while, one becomes adapt at sniffing out the Weird...)
  • I know a guy who knows a guy (Contacting)
