'''Alexis Keene''' is a former actress and national champion in women's fencing, and the current Black Knight (no known relation to sir Percy).

She was visiting the Tower of London, recently restored to its original Medieval state, when '''Morgan le Fay''' besieged the city with an army of demonic automatons. Alexis was nearly buried under a wall toppled by the magical bombardment, and took shelter in a previously hidden underground chamber revealed by the destruction. Here she found the '''Ebony Blade''', a black sword of celestial steel fashioned by the wizard Merlin for the defense of Camelot, refitted shortly before the English Civil Wars as a basket-hilted broadsword according to the fashion of the time, and hidden here for centuries since.

She picked up the sword hoping merely to defend herself against any invaders finding their way down here, but that changed in a flash as the blade accepted her as its owner and the mystical link between them opened. With the powers of the Ebony Blade awakened, under the guidance of the spirits that haunt it, she ended up being instrumental in beating back the invasion. Soon after, she retired from her previous occupations and took up heroing as a full time activity.

Miss Keene dresses in black by habit, and as the Black Knight she wears black half armor and helmet, a white leather glove on her right hand and a large white cloak over her left shoulder, leaving her sword arm free.
