"It was a dark time, more than a thousand years ago, when the Middle City nearly came to an end. Cut up in warring districts, assailed by forces from within and without, many people were sayin´ that it was the destiny of Zhen Zhou City to be destroyed - and that this destiny came manifest in the physical form of the Weapons of the Gods. Ooh, that was a handful, proud Wulin and ´farious villains alike carrying around those shiny things. Their battles were incomparable! The records, they say, tell us how the battle between Incomparable Ochre Thorn of the Nan Clan and Earth Lord Bai of Hell Clan shattered the top of Mount Tsai, a hailstorm of rock and ash and lava laying waste to the land around it! The man known only as the Black Iron Warlord stroke once with Infinite Accomplishments and changed the course of two mighty rivers! Weapons clashed - and believe you me, my girl, this was not a good time to be a poor farmer. The land... the land itself came to waste, just another weapon in the war."
The tones grow darker, threatening.
"There came a time when some of the wisest men and women of Zhen Zhou City came together, an alliance forged out of desperation and necessity - nothin´ makes better bedmates out of unlikely prospects. These people, you see, were some of the very ones that has predicted the end of the City. These were the ones determined to prove the prediction wrong, and change the destiny of the City of the Gods.
Understand, my girl, that these people were great and powerful Daoist sorcerers, keen-eyed tacticians without compare, wise courtiers who tried to stem the tides of the courts with their wits. These were the kind of people to come up with a plan to save the world as we know it, to break the spiral of destruction and forge a new destiny for humans.
Working day and night, they hammered out the particulars of the plan - they discerned what needed to be done, they found the hidden sutras of knowledge to pull it off. They whispered in the ears of the mighty and diverted the course of armies to forge Zhen Zhou City itself into an instrument, a carrier for the greatest spell ever woven by men... and they put the God-Weapons to sleep."
