Sasha is a just a teeny bit corrupt, in a sort of honourable sense. Bribes are a way of life to him but he's paid well enough now that he doesn't accept him. However, he's liable to let misdemeanours slide as he thinks GEO has more important things to do that clog the system. It doesn't stop him lecturing people at end.

RIO BRAVO

Rio Bravo is a Colonial settlement on the southern shore of the third largest island in the New Hawaii chain, Oahu. The town is 993 Kilometers Northwest of Atlantis or about a four hour flight via standard patrol jumpcraft with a range of 900 Km, including the routine stop over at the Incorporate Headquarters City/Platforms of Biogene about three hours and 738 Km into the trip to refuel.

The town sits at the confluence of the Rio Bravo River, which flows out of the heavily rain forested mountain ranges to the north on the islands interior dominated by the dormant volcano Kiluea at 2550 Meters elevation and the Los Isolotes Straights.

The origenal colonial settlement began in the early days of the Long John Rush in the nineties, before the Incorporates came to New Hawaii, as a small base of operations and rest and relaxation for the many independant prospectors that used to prowl the Kaui reef in surface and submersible craft. Its heyday as a rough and tumble lawless frontier town was from 2190 through 2195, before Biogene arrived and built its massive sea surface platform/undersea city of Cliffside on the continental Shelf of the Kaui Reef and began to dominate the Long John Prospecting. In the years since only a few stubborn independants and small time outfits have managed to hold out and continue to use the port facilities as a base of operations for prospecting. In the last four years, Rio Bravo's economic base has shifted towards traditional farming along the cleared slopes up river from the town, providing much needed foodstuffs to support the needs of the huge population living on the platforms and habitats of Biogenes largest and most prodcutive Long John prospecting and processing facility, as well as its planetary headquarters.

The town consists of its older section, with its shallow harbor suitable for medium draft water craft, docks and warehouses along the shore and west bank of the Brave river. A fishing cannery and the old dillapidated and long abandoned Long John refining facility can be found along the beach near the water as well. Up from these facilities, River Street runs along the West bank of the broad and shallow river. Along the oldest street with access to both water craft along the river and vehicular or foot traffic are all the old establishmnets on stilts of the former boom town, mostly a series of combination saloons/casinos/brothels that still cater to the independent prospectors as well as the crews of the supply vessels running to and from Cliffside, and Rio Bravo's own long shoremen and sizeable community of terrestrial farmers and the support network of commercial enterprises that has grown up around the thriving town. Its buildings meander out from river street in no discernable pattern as the rich alluvial plains here have been cleared of tropical rain forest for both structures and to grow the crops that support many thousands of Incorporate employees to the south. Farms of terrestrial crops hardy enough to grow on Poseidon as well as native crops such as the Poseidon Potato or "Popo" dot the surrounding countryside and can be found as far 20 Km up river from the town proper. Most farmers own at least one cargo hovercraft, using the river as a highway to transport goods and crops to town and back. The town and scattered farms support a population of nearly three thousand persons. They get their power from a small fusion power plant run by Biogene, who also maintains a corporate office for conducting trade with the locals as well as managing the Company's other interests in town. It is no secret that the leadership at Cliffside would like to annex the town and make it part of the ever expanding corporate interests of Biogene Poseidon, however there are forces within the town, especially its seemier side that actively oppose annexation.

There has never been a permanent Law Enforcement presence to date in Rio Bravo, although the more civilized of the towns folk and farmers have been clamoring for the GEO to provide one as of late. The GEO's HCC does provide a communications tower And Sattelite uplink relay at the top of a winding dirt road up Hellbender Hill to the northwest of town 4 KM, and staffed by two GEO HCC personnel. Their small compound, composed of several cabins made of idustrial grade fast fungus resistant bioplastics was built with visitors in mind and can comfortably house up to eight personnel. Located between the Hill and town proper sits the indepenantly owned and operated landing field for VTOL/jumpcraft. The facility does a brisk business in cracked Hyrogen fuel for the many flights that use Rio Bravo as a refuel point on the way to all points of the compass. The nearest structure to the landing fields is the Kaui Arms motel.

The eastern Bank of the Rio Bravo fans out into more of a traditional delta and wide tidal swamp extending some five Km at its widest point and is a maze of narrow channels of brackish water and densely forested islands. The area is infested with Hellbenders, hence the name of the hill as well as no small amount of Grendels that prowel the marsh at night.

Of course the real money to be made in Rio Bravo is in the clandestine Pharium crops that are grown in the hilly jungle clearings farther up the Rio Bravo and slopes of the Kiluea range. Its said the strain derived Pharium or "Derivative" or just "D" as its known on the street, that grows on these hills has some of the highest euphoric inducing content and is sought after by buyers at least as far south as Haven. If the rumours are to be believed, the Gorchoff Syndicate has many growing and smuggling connections among the small time producers in the area and are highly protective of their interests here due to the lucrative nature of this cash crop.

Sara is a True Believer to the point of naivete. A daughter of GEO functionaries who died when she was small, Sara grew up in a GEO hostel, went to GEO schools and knew almost only GEO people. This did not stop her dreaming of a life of excitement and, especially, emigrating to Poseidon. Her quietness and watchfulness was noted by instructors at her school and she had little trouble meeting the intellectual requirements of the GEO law enforcement program (although the physical ones were more difficult). Sara quickly found her way into the detective side of the organization and was overjoyed when she recently was posted to Poseidon. Although she isn't completely green when it comes to detective work, almost all her knowledge of Poseidon is from books.

He's a diver, edited to add it. And yes, I'm not really crazy about the name, either. As I said, it's still subject to change.

Parts of the native community view him with suspicion, of course. Others consider him "their guy within the GEO". The latter are closer to the truth. When on leave at home, he always runs a self-defence class, more like a workshop, for the kids and youngsters of the community, because in a remote place like this, the people are the first line of law enforcement. There are parents, now elders, that he supports financially. And of course, a couple uncles, aunts, nieces, and... well, pretty much everyone in a small village is a relative. There is also this Linda girl that isn't a relative, her parents having moved from a nearby community to live with their uncles here. This is the reason they were viewed as a likely match as they both were growing up before he went on to enlist in the army. She was too small at this time, so he slipped a few years before getting married by societal pressure. Now he's not quite sure whether she still thinks they're a likely match, and is having trouble asking straight. Her brother still gets special attention at the aforementioned workshop. She's a stunning beauty, if you ask him, and the fact that he also calls his personal rifle Linda is, of course, entirely coincidental! You don't touch Linda without permission, though! Yeah, of course I'm talking about the rifle. There are also a couple other guys that are roughly his age. You can call them rivals for her attention, but of course, they kinda have an advantage. She's not giving any clear signs yet, although it's about time for her to marry. I guess she enjoys looking them squabbling and trying to prove them better than each other. Enemies are mostly from Haven, parts of the mobs. He doesn't like mobsters, and has acted with extreme prejudice before when called to capture or neutralize some of them. Some of them are due to be released soon, and others have relatives. Of course, he doesn't like criminals, period. In his view of society as a living being, they are the parasites. Some of his superiors consider him "the token minority guy, showing the natives we consider them equal". He considers them a necessary evil and a proof that some higher power is testing the limits of his patience. That makes them about the equivalent of paperwork, BTW. Of course, others respect him in his own right, especially the weapon instructors at the range! He spends a considerable amount of time there. Of course, you can also find him in music clubs. Haven't become close with anyone after the move, yet.


Kate's Lagoon

Conall Munro is from the village of Kate's Lagoon, a fairly large island of the same name to the west of Maui and the Town of Atlantis. The small lagoon which your village sits around an in is inside an extremely well sheltered formation of rocky cliffs that rise up in a jagged pattern perhaps 150 M long forming only a narrow channel big enough for a single catamaran or small vessel to navigate. These same densely forested cliffs rise all about the white sand beaches and shallow emerald waters of the lagoon. Because of its well protected position from the fierce cyclonic storms, your ancestors were able to build large muti storied structures rising on stilts out of the shallow lagoon bed or built into the side of the cliffs themselves, some connected by water hemp rope bridges and to other smaller huts dotting the beaches. The lagoon itself has numerous fish pens and just out side the narrow channel to the lagoon begin the rich natural kelp fields that have sustained your village since its inception. Narrow trails lead up from the rocky cliffs into the islands interior. The population numbers about three hundred, including your relatives and Linda and they have a mixture of mostly old and some recent technology.

Within the last year, the Incorporate Nippon Industrial State or NIS operating out of their Simushir HQ to the East on the marshy island of INA has begun building "Site E" about 150 Km up the coast from Kate's Lagoon. The village has been experiencing some tension as they have lately been competing with NIS shipping and prospectors for hunting grounds and their have been other tense encounters with NIS Security Personnel as well because their long john activities have brought in an increasing amount of piracy, freebooters eeking to steal the longevity ore after its been mined from the deeps. Of course the pirates don't want to be seen or found and this creates more danger for your village. Your home is starting to polarize around an anti-Incorporate militant faction led by one of your old rival's for Linda's affections, Jesse Royce and a more wait and see approach led by the elders of the village.

After a very short time on Earth Sasha was transfered to Posieden and has fallen in love. It's a lot like the Russian of his youth, except the Organitskya here have no honour at all. He finds himself naturally arrayed against them.

Sasha is a fan of non-lethal weaponry, he's not too keen on killing. He far prefers to arrest rather than kill. That said, if his crew mates are in danger he doesn't reach for his tazer.
