Background

Taryn’s father was an officer in the Kern secret police, and as she grew up was expected to follow in his footsteps. However, her father began to have doubts about working for the lich-king, and eventually confided to her that he no longer wished to be a servant of the forces of oppression. He became a double agent for the resistance, but was soon exposed by a rival for his position. Before he was caught and executed, however, he managed to send word to Taryn. Taryn fled to the mountains, taking refuge with a band of outlaws working against the Lich King...
