Backgrounds

Backing 3

Wind of Lament has established a formidable reputation as a Sidereal, and is currently the chair of a relatively minor sub-convention in the Convention on Wars - the Convention on Sieges. He is also a member in good standing on the Convention of Wood, although most of the Goldstars on the Convention have learned to let well enough alone as far as the unaligned Lament is concerned.< br >

Allies 2

Wind of Lament has two close allies. The first is an extremely inexperienced young Chosen of Secrets, Resplendent Seeker. He seems quite taken with the romantic, somewhat tragic image of Wind of Lament, who features heavily in his current 'History of the Scarlet Empire's Campaigns in the Threshold, Volume III". His relative inexperience and an overabundance of paperwork prevent him from being truly useful however. The second is Emerald Orchid, the former city goddess of Joren's Crossing, the site of the Battle of Seven Gates. Their relationship is - unusual - to say the least. Robbed of her portfolio (she is now the Goddess of Seven Gates Refugees, a small group of now-slaves on the Blessed Isle) and much of her prestige, Wind of Lament has a good deal of sympathy for her, as the tangled fates that led to the battle were not her doing. She now lives with him as a concubine, in what turns out to be a mutually beneficial relationship. She is free from (most) duties, and he spends much of his salary doting on her, while he gains a certain amount of political advantage. War Gods view the relationship favorably, seeing the Sidereal take what they consider valid and right spoils of victory for his own pleasure. City Gods tend to see a sympathetic figure, who while often the herald of their destruction, does not revel in the duty. Emerald Orchid makes efforts to appear as either would expect her to, to reenforce this notion.

Celestial Manse 3

Wind of Lament has a generous fortified estate in Yu-Shan, large enough to host occasional gathering, support himself, Emerald Orchid and a number of servitors in comfort, etc. From the outside, the manse is an imposing fortress of grey basalt, but inside is a well-lit space of white jade, marble and crimson velvet. This manse produces a Crystal of Legendary Leadership hearthstone. The manse, "The Unscaled Fortress of Fortune", has Magical Conveniences (Cool silver candles light when someone enters the room, an archery and melee training ring, and a self organizing library), Comfort Zone, Well-Flavored Aspect and a Bound Servant Force.

Connections 2 (Realm Military)

Wind of Lament takes interest in the affairs of those most responsible for creating work for him - the peerless military might of the Realm, the squabbling petty kingdoms of the Hundred Kingdoms, and the Division of Battles. This is also the root of one of his two Resplendent Destinies.

Connections 2 (The Division of Battles)

Salary 3

Wind of Lament has been at this long enough to have secured what, for an independent Sidereal, is a fairly generous salary. Of course he saves little of it, fully expecting to die in battle, and instead dotes on his concubine.

Savant 2

The First Age was a time when siegecraft, and the fall of cities, was a glorious and horrid affair. Wind of Lament has made careful study of the age's military tactics and practices, especially since the Solars began to return...

Artifact 3

Siegebreaker: A starmetal Long Powerbow, Siegebreaker was a gift from his sifu upon his Exaltation. An enormously powerful weapon, it is plainly decorated with red jade accents. It is Lament's favored weapon, and the one for which he is most feared.

Artifact 2

Heaven's Calling: Years ago, Wind was called upon to investigate the sudden and unordained termination of three Threshold towns in violent conflict. Finding that a rogue god, Killing Lotus, had conspired with Yozi cultists to offer the three towns in mass sacrifice to Malfeas in exchange for a tithe of a quarter of the townsfolk to be enslaved by the cult and forced to pray to him, Wind of Lament terminated the cult and brought the god up on charges. A daiklave crafted from the god was his reward.

Artifact 5

As befits a Chosen of Battles, Wind of Lament is extremely heavily armed. He wears a suit of Celestial Battle Armor when going into combat that has been passed down from several predecessor incarnations. It is equipped with the Spirit Bane, Dematerialize and Destiny Interdiction Field options.
