Cyrus is a Sarcosan rogue who worked as a courrier for various smugglers and other shady types who wished to avoid official attention. He thought Gareth had given him a milk run, deliver a short (memorized) message to the Gnome 'Veal Letticue' in Grover's Hollow. Cyrus is a Sarcosan rogue who worked as a courrier for various smugglers and other shady types who wished to avoid official attention. He thought Gareth had given him a milk run, deliver a short (memorized) message to the Gnome 'Veal Letticue' in Grover's Hollow. No matter, it meant a week of good eating instead of constant hunger pangs.
The Scroll Bearers arrived at the exact same time.... and the small army of Orks hunting them arrived perhaps an hour later.
Things went from bad to worse when the Gnome 'Veal Letticue' revealed itself to be the dragon Varlathis, charged the Scroll Bearers with a mission, and took to the air to engage the orks.
Cyrus knew that if he went home, he would doom everyone he cared about merely by being near them- avoiding Ork patrols was one thing, but the presence of a Dragon meant Izrador's Legates would be scrying anything and everything that took place here.
So he decided that Varlathis wouldn't mind loaning him a minor knicknack from her hoard that would be useful on the mission she wanted accomplished, and took a Rapier of elven make and exquisite quality "for the duration of the mission".
Whoops.
