**Epharain, patron god of the Imperial City. 90 years ago my great-grandmother pledged herself to Epharain in exchange for the power to unite the clans of the Shattered Peaks to stand against the Reign of Monsters. She gave herself and the next two generations of her offspring to the god. Since then, the clans have been united under the leadership of our clan. I was the first one born free of the bargain, but as soon as I came of age Epharain began appearing to me in dreams, attempting to make a new deal. I resisted until a feud arose between my clan and the second most powerful of the united clans. I reluctantly agreed to pledge myself to Epharain in exchange for keeping the clans united. I thought that meant he would help me win a duel with the champion of the other clan, set to establish leadership and settle the fued. But I lost that duel and was exiled. Epharain appeared to me and led me to the long lost tomb of the legendary hero Krynos, a follower of Epharain connected to the founding of the Imperial City. The god said that our deal was still in effect, he just had a different plan for accomplishing it than I had assumed. He urged me to take Krynos' axe, shield, and armor from the tomb.
