Welcome to Ashenwrought

Hello and welcome to the very first stop of our epic adventure throughout the Dragon Isles. Technically a city set in the island of Pyrefall, yet large enough to be considered the island itself, Ashenwrought is one of the most industrial cities set in the Dragon Isles. There are a few important details you, as the players of the campaign need to know about the city.

1) Ashenwrought is set against an ACTIVE volcano.

Ashenwrought is a multi-tiered city carved from the side of a mountain, which happens to be a regularly, lava-spewing, active volcano. The overlord of this island is Verimisiax, a legendary dragon with mysterious ties to the plane of fire itself. The reason Ashenwrought is named Ashenwrought is because above the city is a giant cloud of ash that constantly rains down on the city. Luckily the servants of the overlord, red dragonspawn and azers (dwarven beings with heads of fire) have formed a ventalation system in the higher tiers of the city. The lowest tier is flooded with ash constantly and has driven most of the inhabitants either underground or off the island. Oh, I forgot to mention this. The dragon isles are floating islands. The only passageway to or from the island is airships, which come at a hefty price, or by other means of flight, which are very rare to find on the isles themselves. The island also has a vast quantity of ores, coal, and gems that act as the main trade for the city.

2) Life is a bitch, unless you are rich.

Ashenwrought's tier system isn't just so that the citizens are not affected by the ash above, but also works to seperate the classes of the city. The city's highest tier is reserved for the dragons and their servants, its second tier is reserved for the humanoid nobility, the third for middle class, and the lowest is reserved for slaves and beggars. It is nearly impossible to move to a higher tier as once you are born at a certain level, you cannot ascend higher, except for either inheritence or some mutation that gives you draconic properties. You can however be kicked into lower tier by messing around with a dragon.

4) If you have any moral bone in your body, you don't belong in Ashenwrought.

If you see someone commiting a crime, just walk away... or help them out. That is the way of Ashenwrought. The laws set in Ashenwrought are there as guidelines, unless it has to do with the dragons, who are the kings of the Dragon Isles.
