Katawa Oni

'Synopis'

Okay guys, odds are I might end up Internet hanged for this, but honestly, I don't care.

See, I was bored and paging through my Exalted books while waiting for Katawa Shoujo to download (slowpoking? Damn right I was). And while playing through, it hit me. I will ST a very, VERY light play-by-post (because my schedule is full up) Exalted game- based on KS. If it's Exalted, I'm going for Infernals, because I'm dying for an Infernals game.

That said, players can create their own characters, just as long as they're disabled. So now, I am going to ask for some advice. For one, should I set it in a kind of Exalted high school (think Malfeas High, Solar Secondary, Sidereal Middle School etc), or should I play it relatively straight, with the PCs being Infernals setting up the Reclamation?

Any other suggestions, apart from kill myself and its variants? I'm looking for 8-12 players.

Also, House Rules stolen shamelessly from Sunrunner's Exalted game:

First of all, players will be expected to post at least once a day in an IC thread. Exceptions will be made if the IC scene doesn't have much for your character happening in it*. If you absolutely can't post, say so in the OOC thread, and give a timeline on how long you'll be gone if you can. Suggestions on what will your character do in the meantime MUST be submitted.

  • That said, you're Exalted! Make some noise!

'House rules'

Attributes: All attributes start with two dots automatically. Otherwise, as per normal. (Lunars receive a total of 2 Favored Attributes.)

Abilities: 42 Dots, with a total of 7 Favored Abilities outside of Caste Abilities. May raise Abilities up to 5 without need for Bonus Points Advantages - Backgrounds: 12 Dots of Backgrounds. May raise Backgrounds up to 5 without need for Bonus Points.

Advantages - Charms: Any excellencies that your character qualifies for are considered to be known; any excellencies that your character eventually qualifies for are considered to be automatically known with no required training time. It is the nature of the Exalted to be excellent within their purview.

The selection of a Sorcery Charm includes two spell selections of the appropriate circle. Additional charm selections used for spells enables three spell selections instead of the default. 15 Charms, at least 5 must be from Caste or Favored Abilities.

Advantages - Virtues: 7 Dots to assign.

Finishing Touches: Starting Essence of 3, Max of 5.

Bonus Points: 30, +15 for non-magical traits. Players must pick at least 1 Physical Flaw. Bonus Points will be awarded as usual.

Charm Use: Free Reflexive Charms for all Exalts, as per the rules for Terrestrial Exalts. Reflexive Charms do not count as a charm-action, and do not interfere with using other charms or sorcery or combos.

Social Combat: Social Combat operates on the same time-scale as Regular Combat; Join Battle does not interrupt Social Combat. For every three (3) successes on your social combat action over and above your opponents MDV, another 'scene' worth of effort is applied towards the consequences of a successful action.

Sorcery & Necromancy: Sorcery operates within the normal combat tick system, and does not interfere with using reflexive charms. Shape Sorcery remains the applicable declared action.

Merits & Flaws: Merits and Flaws fromScroll Of Heroes only.

Incapacitated and Dying: Supernaturals do not die when taken below Incapacitated. They are merely disabled. Killing a supernatural character, to explicitly include exalts and select heroic mortals, requires an additional attack action after disabling them to "finish the job". Ending an Exalt is considered bad form, as reoccurring opponents are nice to have. Bonus XP will be rewarded for not killing important characters at the Storyteller's discretion.

Craft Ability: Craft (X) is considered and treated like a specialty and priced accordingly. There is no non-specialty Craft, and so Craft Specialties have a limit of 5 dots (or Essence, whichever is higher) per specialty. If you wish to further specialize your Craft (X), additional specialties of specialties may be purchased at one-half the cost of a normal specialty.

Switching Characters: Sometimes, you might find that your player concept does not fit in with the game currently being played. If that's so, then you may switch ONCE, transferring up to 20 XP to your new character if s/he has that much XP, or 75% of your old character's XP.

Experience Awards: Experience is awarded on a weekly basis; it is expected that the players will track their earned experience total, their spent experience total and what was purchased with said spent experience.

Training Times: Training times are ignored for Favored and Caste attributes, abilities, charms, combos and spells. Essence Training Times are ignored up to Essence 5. Essence 6 and above are attainable via completing your motivation or via the normal training times and requirements.

Stunt Awards: Awarded stunts of one-, two- or three-dice value are no longer dependent on the success or failure of the relevant action, in regards to mote or willpower regeneration. Coolness is its' own reward. If your action succeeds, you gain either motes or willpower from your stunt.) If your action fails, you still gain either motes or willpower from your stunt.) Stunts are awarded to NPCs at the STs discretion. Stunts are awarded to PCs on an IC Post basis, near-automatically, with the major requirement that the IC Post must have a mechanical basis to qualify.

Rounding: All Essence-Users round up when calculating any value. (Regardless of what the books say.) All Non-Essence-Users round down when calculating any value. (Regardless of what the books say.)
