The Defeatist Human-loving Rabble are a secret organisation of elves who feel that the elvish domination of the cities politics, culture and economy is unfair, unenlightened and short-sighted.  Some of the founding members supported an honest human, Valac, over a corrupt and narcissistic elf, Simia, for Naval Supplies Minister.  Simia accused them of not trying being defeatist human-loving rabble for this.  When they formed their secret society they adopted the name on the suggestion of their only half-elf member, who had a more human sense of humor.  They wish to bring other races, particularly humans, dwarfs and halflings into fairer, more meritocratic power-sharing arrangements.  Their numbers are small perhaps two dozen, but they are disciplined, secretive and very good at infiltrating organizations.  In particular the [[Commission Against Disloyalty]] which is supposed to keep tabs on conspiracies in the city is thoroughly subverted.  Many of their members are former adventurers who gained respect for other races in various ventures.  They are able to leak information to former comrades without appearing to be part of an organized effort to do so.  The information they transmitted and the sabotage they caused helped win the [[civil war]] for the dwarfs and humans.
