Details which the players state during character generation become '''Facts''' within the campaign. Following character generation, each player also gets to state three facts about the world, which (assuming they are not vetoed by the other players) also become facts.

The facts we have established thus far are:
<br />
* This area is part of a larger region called the Wilderlands.<br />
* The borders of the Wilderlands are patrolled by local militias.<br />
* Every full moon the boundaries between the worlds thin, and things slip through the cracks.<br />
* The standard magic-user spells have been passed down through the aeons unchanged, from master to apprentice. There are rumors of other spells, spells developed by renegades, or whispered by demons into the ears of madmen, that can be discovered and mastered by those brave enough.<br />
* Each settlement has a festival day at the end of the month. During this time goods that would otherwise be unavailable may occasionally be purchased as citizens flock in from the surrounding areas.<br />
* Karsk is the god of Earth and Stone, and is worshipped by some Dwarves. Karsk's faithful followers keep their pates and faces bald, wearing tattoos of dwarven runes where beard and hair would be - runes that tell the story of how they came to serve. When he appears to his followers, Karsk takes on the form of a massive earth elemental. His Holy Symbol is a hunk of raw iron ore etched with dwarven runes that translate The Blind Eye That Sees. Clerics of Karsk use a fine Blessed Dust made of ground stone instead of Holy Water.<br />
* Dwarves view Giants as blood kin long separated. They have a phrase that they utter, "Under the Mountain, Over the Mountain," that encompass the similarities and differences between the races and denotes the perceived kinship.<br />
* When the sun sets over the horizon in the evening and rises over the horizon in the morning, the caverns underneath the earth and mountains of the world glow briefly with an orange corona that clings to rock and earth for a moment and then fades.<br />
* Cats do not like dwarves. Not even a little bit.<br />
* Oaths are serious business. Knowingly breaking a Sworn Oath has a small-but-real chance oF bringing down some ongoing malady on your person.<br />
* The Empire of Thakarus, which ruled great swaths of land many centuries ago, in part maintained their power through assorted pacts with various demons and devils. Iron weapons were prohibited to the populace, to help maintain control by the ruling class (iron weapons were smuggled to rebels and heroes by dwarven interests). Ancient tombs and ruins occasionally contain bronze weapons of no small power.<br />
* Ghouls feeding on the recently dead not only provides them sustenance, but also with memories of the slain as well. If you can approach them from a position of strength, and negotiate accordingly, you can learn much from a conversation with these beings.<br />
* Halflings are obsessed with sexual innuendo. Almost everything they say has some kind of reference. This goes back thousands of generations and has since become part of their culture. Additionally, almost every aspect of halfling life contains such innuendos (whether it's names, stories, even their local dialects, etc). Some believe that the reason that halflings utter their sexual innuendo is that there are invisible imps who sit on their shoulder, whispering and giggling...but what else are they whispering? Suggesting? Urging?<br />
* Ten thousand years ago halflings freely mated with humans. Unfortunately this led to the discovery that a human mating with a Halfling produces a dwarf and neither parents could stand the ugly bastards. At some point however, both species decided there was a enough of these ugly hybrids running around so they were all taken to the top of a large volcano and thrown in. While they were supposed to all die, the dwarves proved resilient and survived the Great Purge...and thus was created the first dwarven city in the heart of the volcano (from which all dwarven cities originated). The legend goes on to state that dwarves started breeding with giants and that's how Ogres came to be...but that's just a story right? Right??? These legends echo the dwarven belief that giants are their estranged kin.<br />
* Some elves are cannibals and they are not subtle about it in the least. "Meat Markets" are a common sight in their cities where you can purchase fresh limbs and such. Many believe this to be the case for all elves, but it goes back to the days of the Empire of Thakarus. The Thakari believed the meat from sentient beings to be a delicacy, and often took part in orgiastic feasts where the bodies of the sacrifices they made to demons were consumed. Artistry was valued by the Thakari and elves would try to out-do each other with their own highly individualistic flavors of awfulness, with cannibalism being the traditional expression of a previous generation...<br />

The Thakari Empire fell, not due to war or conquest, but to boredom.<br />

The elves became jaded by their casual atrocities, bored with power and recreational evil and allowed their empire to crumble.  No one power was able to fill the vacuum and the territory fell to rule by small city-states with no central authority.  The elves who were not dragged to Hell by their demonic masters drifted back to the forests and forgot their old, cruel ways.<br />

The modern Wilderlands Border is ostensibly ruled by the coastal city of Vallec. A relatively prosperous region with good farmland, forest and mountains with rich seams of ore. The forests, however, are prowled by tribes of orcs, gnolls and ogres. Bounties are paid for the heads of these raiders.<br />

<br />The Border region is known colloquially as the Field of Tombs.  The area is littered with the underground mausoleums of Thakari nobles, entombed with their slaves and servants and believed to be laden with grave goods, though guarded by bound demons, devils and monsters, as well as the restless spirits of its denizens...<br />
