Gladstone is an eccentric old man in his mid 60s. He has long white curly hair and a long white beard.  He is his own man, though he appears to give Maugre the best advice he can.  Gladstone wears outdated clothes from the mainland and is clearly from there originally.  He loves children, always having small trinkets or even candy for them, and they appear to enjoy him very much.  He'll frequently spend an afternoon telling stories of wonder to the children of Soldier Port.  The native adults are uncomfortable around him and even fear him, believing him to be a sorcerer.  In fact it is rumored that much of Maugre's power comes form Gladstone's magic and Gladstone's boosting of Maugre's loyal guards.
