Real Name

A Player Character in Halcyon Knights.

Look

  • Asian woman
  • smiling face

  • gaudy costume

Amy Lee is a 16-year-old Chinese-American teenager, standing 5'3" in the right shoes. As the Invincible Sword Princess, she wears a bright-colored kung-fu outfit (a repurposed competitive wushu outfit) and a Chinese-opera-style mask painted in predominantly red and blue.

Abilities

Martial Arts, Swords: Before embarking on her superheroic career, Invincible Sword Princess! was involved in competitive wushu, and her father was a professional MMA fighter before pulling back to run their own gym. In addition, she has an impressive collection of swords of various styles - it's rare to see her bring the same sword out into action twice in a row.

Playbook Moves

Won't let you down
When you help a teammate, you can spend 2 out of the Team pool to add +2 to their roll.

Suck it, Domitian
When you stand strong while dramatically under fire, roll +Savior instead of +Danger to directly engage a threat.

Drives

Choose four drives to mark at the start of play. When you fulfill a marked drive, strike it out, and choose one: mark potential, clear a condition, take Influence over someone involved.
When your four marked drives are all struck out, choose and mark four new drives. When all drives are struck out, change playbooks, retire from the life, or become a paragon of the city.

  • lead the team successfully in battle

Backstory

How did you gain your skills?
My dad's pretty big in the MMA scene (he's retired to coaching and teaching Jeet Kune Do now), so martial arts were always part of life growing up. He got me into wushu when I was little, I think to try and steer me away from the rougher stuff, but we always talked about the philosophy and stuff, which tended to lead into technique. Never hurt my standings in the wushu tournaments, either, at least till I stopped competing to do this!

When did you first put on your costume?
I'd just gotten my bag off the carousel on my way home from a national tournament when Paradigm made his villainous debut, taking the airport and everyone in it hostage. He had robots floating around that sensed guns and stuff, so security was even more useless than usual, y'know? But I'd noticed they mostly ignored people otherwise, so I ducked into a bathroom, changed into one of my fancy competition outfits and put on a mask I'd got as a souvenir. Turns out the robots' database had most of the local superheroes, but they didn't consider a 5'3" teenager that big a threat, and I had him on the ground with a bloody nose and a dislocated shoulder before he could do anything to fix that.

Who, outside your team, thinks you shouldn't be a superhero?
My mom is so not on board with this. It's why I haven't gotten a better costume yet, she says I have to find a way to get it myself.

Why do you try to be a hero?
Because it's amazing? Why go do another dance routine dressed up as a martial arts form when I can actually go out there and beat up bad guys and save the day?

Why do you care about the team?
Well, first off, because the team's part of the truce we worked out so my mom doesn't completely lose it. But besides that, these are kids like me! We're not going to just sit around, we're going to be heroes!

...also, they're all really hot, but don't tell them I said that, OK?

Relationships

Totally wants to make out with that one girl.
